I assume my medical won't get reviewed for a while, so I was wondering if USAFA reviews applications even if certain parts arent in, such as the medical or a nomination. I know they would not give appointments unless these boxes are checked, but could they give LOAs/anything else?

USAFA will offer appointments on the condition they clear medical and they have a nomination. Happened a few weeks ago for my DS.
Was that an LOA or actual conditional appointment? It’s always interesting to see which tool an SA is using.

Conditional appointment in the form of a Decision Letter.
Very cool! I think I have only seen USCGA and USAFA use those. Thank you for clarifying. It helps the general readership. The Decision Letter is what makes it different.

My letter, which I call an LOA states, "You have been approved for admission to the United States Air Force Academy Class of 2027. You are assured of an appointment once you secure a nomination..."

In the third paragraph it states, "Please be aware that your appointment will also be conditional on the satisfactory completion of any outstanding requirements (medical status, CFA...)" I don't have anything oustanding except my nomination.

I have this too but I also have a nomination (pretty sure principal), completed CFA, and DODMERB. No appointment yet even though the LOA says "Decision Letter" in my portal.

USNA calls it a "Conditional Appointment - LOA" while USMA just calls it an LOA. Seems weird how each academy has slightly different terminology for an LOA.

Interesting. My DS’s letter starts with “Congratulations! On behalf of the Superintendent, Lt Gen Richard M. Clark (USAFA '86), it is my pleasure to announce your appointment to the United States Air Force Academy as a member of the Class of 2027.” and you can accept/decline in the portal by May 1st.

That's an appointment, not LOA. It's way better though! Congrats to your DS!
