In the personal data record, one questions asks "first person in your family to attend college" yes or no answer, no room for explanation. Now, neither of my parents or any of their siblings went to college, none of my grandparents went to college and so on. The only person who has bean to college in my family is my older brother by two years, he has not graduated yet. Can I mark yes for this question because I will be a "first generation" college student?

I would suggest that you answer the question that was asked. You will have the opportunity elsewhere to describe your circumstances, e.g., in your BGO interview, essays, etc.

Your brother is attending college, so your answer is "no", you're not the first. He is.

Being the question is about a "first generation" collage student, both you and your brother are "first generation" colllage students. Even so, I would check with your BGO first.

First Generation College Student (In the Navy's Eyes)

I just want through this with my 2018 application and they made it very clear that because my parents didn't have Bachelors degrees (both have Associates), I was a first generation college student. Because your brother is the same generation you guys would both carry that distinction (at least in the Academy's eyes).
