On the USMMA website sons application status changed from on file to conditional. He had everything complete except for nom. Any thoughts

That's a good thing. Not a guarantee but in the right direction.:thumb:

Conditional is a beautiful thing. Common conditions are (1) nomination (2) DOBMERB clearance (3) satisfactory completion of HS coursework.

So, all in all, he should be in good shape. Congratulations.

congratulations to him, but stress that that does not mean he's in for sure. i had a few friends with conditionals to CG that didnt end up getting in. grades, DoDMERB, etc. tell him to keep pushing.

better yet, dont tell him. i know getting that letter in the mail was one of the best moments of my life:shake:

I have submitted all three parts of the application and was told I would be under review soon. Would other conditionals be passing the CFA and higher SAT scores?? I just need to boost my math SAT and complete the CFA.

UPDATE Son received letter from Director of Admissions stating He has reserved an Appointent contingent upon a nomination and continued excellent work in school!!

Congratulations to your son, kpforson! That's great news!

db10 A conditional appointment can be given with the condition being a successful completion of the CFA. I know this because our daughter got one 2 years ago. (Wow! That time flew by!) However, she was very athletic, multiple varsity letters and team captain 3 times. So it was a pretty good bet that she would pass with flying colors.

I don't know about getting a conditional appointment for low SATs. I tend to doubt it. I'd guess that they would want to be certain of you academically before offering one.

Good luck with application!

I'm relatively certain

A conditional appointment would not be given for low SAT scores; especially at a realatively early time in the cycle; the cabdudate would just remain in the applicant pool.

From the letter that was sent it appears that the application is complete with the exception of the nomination; I'm relatively certain that pretty much all appointments are conditional on satisfactory completion of the remainder of a students high school curriculum as well.
