I️ just completed my ALO/evaluation interview. Everything is complete in my portal except nomination and dodmerb (reviewing results). What can I️ expect next and when?

I’m sorry the new ios update has changed “I️” to “A ?”

Oh wow this is frustrating, it is supposed to say “eye” but the single vowel letter if anyone can understand that analogy

That's great. Can you please share your ALO/evaluation interview experience and what type of question did your ALO ask? How long is the interview? I heard starting this year the interview is doing “virtual” interviews - is that true?

In not the OP, but our son's ALO interview was over the internet using a software similar to Skype that the ALO had him install on the spot. Including all the technical installation and testing issues, his interview was 2 hours long.

That is correct, we conducted our interview over Skype. It surprisingly only lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were typical such as “why you want to go” “describe your day” and one specific one was “what book are you reading right now”. This was then followed by my questions for the ALO

If something comes up medically, you'll have to take care of that right away. The nomination process is parallel to the Academy application, but after interviews and everything you should hear back NLT January. Assuming both of those things go smoothly, you're kind of to the sit and wait period (besides submitting a transcript at the end of this semester). Expect to hear back around March. If you have expectations of hearing back sooner you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Enjoy your year, stay active in your extracurriculars, don't let your grades slip, and keep working out. If you have any significant accomplishments be sure to update your application with them. Good luck!

Keep an eye on your DODMERB results and your nominations...and then keep watching this space. It may be a few months before you hear anything or longer--February, March, April, May...The way you will know things are happening will be through a thread labelled something like Appointments Class of 2022. You will start to see waves of applicants being offered appointments. Some people will get a call from their nominating source, others will observe a change in their status. However, it is a marathon, not a sprint. The truth is that things will be working themselves out mostly until 1 May--and even thereafter.

You have done what you can do for now--all that is left is to earn great grades, be a leader in your sports and clubs, and finish your ROTC application and other college applications, and try to enjoy your senior year.

Also, do not give up hope...even if you are done now and you do not hear anything until April. Have other awesome plans but be faithful in this.

Now starts the waiting game. My DS finally finished and submitted everything. Pending his ALO interview and DODMERB. In the past year I've read on here that it is an accomplishment in itself to finish the application process, boy, do I agree. So congratulations to you and good luck to all.

@Hebaragi and @mommahedg Hope your doolies are doing well! <3 Miss you. This was us last year...except that #3 would always fly in on fumes for the deadline...
Hello :) We are doing well! DS is loving USAFA! It is hard but he's doing really well. No trip home for Thanksgiving due to being in Drum & Bugle and having a home game on Saturday but we can't wait for Christmas break. Thankfully he has a great sponsor family (longtime friends of our family who now live in Colorado Springs) and they will take care of him. It's amazing to watch the journey begin for a new group of cadets when we were in their shoes just one year ago. What a ride!! Hope you and yours are doing well too! We are now deep in DS#2's senior year of high school so the college path for him is the main topic at our house.

My advice is to relax and enjoy the Holidays; matters are out of your hands now and fretting and stressing over the wait wont help at all.
Nomination deadline is Jan 31 so it may be a while before your MOCs announce results.
DS had a nom by now last year; didn't hear until March. He received 2 SA appointments so don't assume not hearing early is a bad sign.

Assume you will get in and enjoy the rest of Senior year - in hindsight you will really appreciate these last months of HS. [Trust me . . .]

Stay focused on your classes, 7th semester grades get sent in. Also keep up with your fitness regimen; it is never too early to work up to I-day.

DS is doing well. His coming home tomorrow night. But, we face time on the weekends and that took out a lot of not seeing him for 5 months. It will be good to have him home for few days. All he wants to do is sleep and see his friends with meals in between.

DS had his yesterday. Via Skype. Whole house internet went down (of course), poor kid was running up and down the stairs trying to reset it, worked up a sweat in his suit and tie! He ended up txting ALO, and they finished up via face time (on slow data nonetheless)! Pointed out he is a problem solver! Quick thinker! Threw a wrench in the plan, but finished strong. I think it actually may have been a blessing as he was stressed but worked through it and still interviewed well.

NOTE TO SELF: reset router before important skype interview :/

Good luck to your boy @justdoit19
You are right. Hopefully the ALO can see that this kid is a go getter well equipped to overcome cyber challenges. Not a bad thing.
And now...you focus on the DODMERB--and wait!

actually he has already cleared DoDMRB. And we JUST heard he was awarded an AFROTC!! Also a NROTC last week. MUCH to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!!

Wow! That is wonderful that your son's call to serve is being heard so favorably by so many. AFROTC and NROTC in the same week. That makes for a wonderful Thanksgiving for your family. So now you will be watching this space and checking the mail box. Enjoy these days!

Yes it was a very busy week at out house for sure. He also played (and won) a State Championship football game on Friday, home and to bed at 3am, up at 6 to head out to check in for an 18 panel nomination interview for academies on Saturday. Had a recruiting lunch with a Naval Academy midshipmen back home for the holiday on Sunday followed by his ALO interview for Air Force Academy an hour later. Today's news is a big 'ole cherry on that big weekend.
