I am curious whether it is possible to apply for a ROTC Scholarship during Freshman year while under scholarship in a different service? Scenario being that I did not receive scholarship from my first choice branch but did from second choice.
Does anyone know whether this is possible, or whether it is frowned upon?

Sounds rare. But one of the school my DS applied, the Navy LT who’s a Pilot said he started his ROTC with Air Force Freshman Year then changed to Navy ROTC Sophomore year. So it can be done. How that impacts Scholarship don’t know. Should ask the service you want to transfer into.

Also another Air Force Detachment said that you can stay in NROTC or AROTC and commission into Air Force. But Cadets need to complete the STEM requirement in curriculum which is nothing.

Suggested if want to do this to let the other service know your intention by your Junior Year likely because you should do your Junior Summer 2LT job shadowing during that summer. So again it can be done while you’re in your current ROTC Program.
