Applying to USMMA

Be sure to take calculus (ap if possible). USMMA should go ahead and tell applicants it is required for admissions instead of preferred based on feedback I am learning.
My DS was offered an appointment and he has only taken Pre-calc....Not that it is a bad idea to take it, but in at least my DS's case it wasn't required. (He didn't have any other grade hurdles to get over, like the OPs D in Chemistry though, so I am sure that helped.)

Well, the world has changed much since I started at KP in the late 70s, but I didn't take any calculus during high school. I could have gone to the local community college during my senior year, but opted out. Now, I do have a head for math (or did). For the first four quarters of calc, I did very well. It was that last (fifth) quarter that began getting into differential equations that really put the whammy on me. Never happier with a C+ in my life. I would say that if you have the opportunity to take calculus, do so by all means. There were some other classes that I took in high school (mechanical drawing comes to mind) that most of my classmates did not take, and knowing a subject allowed me to concentrate on those that I didn't and also allowed me time to attend to more mundane things like shining shoes and belt buckles, memorizing Plebe Knowledge. . . . .

Hello all! Hope everyone is doing well. Just wanted to ask if anyone knows when the Merchant Marine Academy applications will open for Class of 2028?
It just opened today but the link isn't exactly working right now. I just started the Login.gov so far.

Hello! As my junior year is about to end, I have from what I estimate a 3.4-3.5 GPA unweighted. So far, I've taken many Honor Courses as well as 3 total AP classes so far.
My only issue was getting a D in Honors Chemistry last year. I have decided towards my senior year I will be taking Chemistry at a local community college to compensate the current D on my transcript. I took the SAT and now the ACT coming up and have not yet gotten my score. I plan on retaking both by the end of this year towards the summer. As far as my extracurricular activities I believe are good so far (I can give specifics if so). I was just curious, do I have a shot at being admitted to the USMMA and what are some ways I can become a better candidate.
Good luck getting into the Zoo kid. Its 4 yrs of hell but at the end well worth it. Its the only academy you can make 6 figures out the gate. Go get it. $$$
