Hi, so I was received an offer from USNA and was deemed medically qualified from my old medical examination in January. However in March I tore my tfcc and had to report that into DODMERB. It’s all healed and I am cleared for physical activity, but I was medically disqualified on 5/16/23. The wavier process has started but because I already received an offer I declined all of my options besides USNA. What are the chances a wavier will happen?

Have you had a convo on the phone with USNA?? If not, I would recommend doing so. To manage expectations.

No one here will be able to give you a definitive answer.

What is a good number to call? I have tried to get in contact with no luck unfortunately

So you had already accepted your USNA appt? My son was injured last year the week before IDay. His knee injury negated his eligibility for USNA and NROTC last summer and in need of a waiver. He was called by admissions and the Capt in charge of medical at USNA.

He had to sign USNAs civilian prep contract which requires excellent character, full-time college schedule (including English, calc, chem), rehab and recovery followed with PRT, DODMERB waiver (was 6 month requirement till waiver for my son’s injury- the timing reqs come from DODMERB), and he had to repeat the nomination process.

My son applied to a new college in July to complete the education requirement, rehabbed, nomination applications and interviews in the fall, worked full-time, received another nomination in Dec, DODMERB waiver came in Jan, PRT in Feb, civilian prep packets are assembled by Admissions in Mar, the USNA board meets in April and appts are offered, repeating the PRT packet now, and will report in June as part of the next class.
