Appointed Now what?

I wouldn't worry about it. But I WOULD RECOMMEND taking them to your family dentist NOW and having the dentist look at them. Wisdom teeth are not something that everyone HAS to have pulled out. Many people live their whole life with them in. But a dentist can look at them and determine if they are causing stress on the other teeth; on the jaw; or if it looks like them may become inflamed. I didn't get my wisdom teeth taken out until I was about 27 years old. And only then because they were too difficult for me to brush properly, and I kept getting cavities in them and had to keep getting fillings. The dentist finally convinced me to have them pulled.

So have your family dentist look at them and give his/her professional opinion. Don't go based on "How your daughter FEELS". Basic training is a very stressful place. That can cause irritations and issues. The point is; you don't want the wisdom teeth to become an issue at BCT. If they do; your daughter is most likely coming home and leaving the academy. They can't have her laid up for 4-5 days out of training. But if you do get them pulled, you want that to be done soon. While your daughter still has 2 1/2 months to recuperate.

To piggy-back on what Christcorp is saying, the Academy offers approximately 1450 appointments, knowing full well that only about 1250+ will ultimately be accepted, and fewer than that will show up on I-Day. So, by someone accepting an appointment so they can get started on the paperwork, with possible intentions of later turning it down if a better offer (appointment to the #1 desired SA) comes along, is not going to necessarily take away a slot. The Academies are well aware that many of their candidates have applied to multiple SAs.

I was trying to find the link to the USAFA Class of 2020 profile for the actual numbers from last year, but I'm not having much luck. It showed the real numbers for offers, acceptances, expected for I-Day, and how many actually showed up.

And back in the 2008 and prior class; when the job market was much better. (Yes, it's not that good right now; contrary to the numbers for unemployment); the academy actually offered around 1700 appointments, knowing approximately 500 would eventually turn them down.

And as hard as it is to believe...... the academies are NOT everyone's #1 choice. For MANY, it's THEIR PLAN B or lower.
