Appointee Events but No Appointment?

So if we did not receive one of these error emails, would that allude to either a)not receiving an appointment this week (11th - 13th window) or b) TWE? Or is it just by chance that some got it and some did not?

Probably not, read Susan707's response to this question earlier on this thread.

My DS stated he rec'd a notice in his portal yesterday stating he was getting a letter from the DOD that he needed to sign? He has been very tight lipped about the entire application process otherwise, is this the TWE, or possibly something else? He has a MOC nomination, not sure what else there would be to sign at this point...

That's funny because you might actually have an appointment coming! I agree with MMShape. Just confirm with your admission or liaison officer.
CallSingGaspar, I don't know your motivation for adding your various noms and appointments to your signature line. But from the outside, it looks like you're bragging. Congratulation on the multiple appointments. But I would suggest you work hard to leave your ego at home when you report to wherever you choose. Because those who work well in a team and support their squad mates thrive. While those who focus on personal accomplishments struggle. Good luck.

I was looking through this old thread, and realized that the OP never came back to it after getting an offer and accepting.
I love it when a plan comes together.

My DS received the call Friday from our MOC with an appointment (contingent on our DoDMERB AMI that was completed last week) He hasn't gotten any email from admissions and his portal hasn't changed yet. He said it was the best day of his life as it has been his dream school since 8th grade! He worked so hard to get to this point

Congratulations to your DS and to your whole family. My DS got his appointment on 12/24, but we are still waiting to hear from DoDMERBon a waiver. The wait is killing us.

How can he receive a contingent appointment?

Same question here. How can a candidate receive an appointment if he is not 3Q'd?

Indeed, it seems odd that he would get his appointment first, but there is absolutely no ambiguity in the communication that my son received. First, an update to the portal, including a letter offering an appointment, and instructions for how to accept it, which he did. The next day, another letter confirming his appointment, including the verbiage 'Your space at the USAFA is now officially reserved.'

Furthermore, they provided a form to return that I had to sign as my son is not yet 18; another to authorize a criminal background check. They also went so far as to tell him when he needs to present for basic, and information for arranging for a flight there. Initially, we thought this must just be a case where DoDMERB reporting is behind, and that all had been coordinated already behind the scenes and that eventually the portal would catch up. But this Tuesday will mark five weeks since he got the appointment and he has since confirmed with admissions that analysis of the results from the medical tests he had done in mid-December are still pending.

We are confident that this will eventually break his way and that we can have a proper celebration. Until then, there is a very real possibility that this could be reversed.

The SAs are free to do this how they wish. USCGA has done the same thing, made actual offers contingent upon a favorable medical Q resolution.

This may or may not be a new thing at USAFA, as we see what is self-reported here, we don’t know whether it’s rare or not. It’s clear the offer of appointment laid out the contingency that must be met, and there is a chance it may not be, and the offer will be voided.
