Appointee Kit Q&A

Wait so if I got my MMR vaccine when I was 5, I have to do a titer? This vaccine stuff is so confusing :/
When ds put in his MMR dates, the requirement for a titer or booster goes away in the appointee kit because the requirement is satisfied.

The appointee kit spells it out pretty well. DS has prescriptions for the mandatory vaccines (flu, DTaP, and polio) that he printed out plus a list of optional vaccines that are recommended. He is going to ask about the optional vaccines at his Dr. appt.

Hi everyone:
Is the only bank on the Academy base Arm Force Bank?
However, there is no branch around my area to open an account.
How do you handle this? Need to fill out the direct deposit in Kit.
Also concern no access to bank (no car in first year).
Thanks!
Appointee can open an account over the phone with USAA. Free to use ATMs. USAA is used to the military lifestyle and tailors their services with that in mind. My son opened his checking account there before I-day and has been very happy with their services. He has a savings account and a Roth IRA that he's funding too. He will become a two-degree late next month and will soon get their car insurance. If you're trying to decide on which military financial institution, I do recommend USAA.

Ok, I know boots are a long talked about topic, but can anyone confirm that these are authorized? And does anyone have any opinions on them? https://www.nike.com/t/sfb-field-2-8-leather-tactical-boots-HdQlt9
They are authorized. My son started with Nike's. They are fine. By Christmas his doolie year, he asked for Oakley's instead-- they are lighter weight and therefore more comfortable to wear going to classes, etc. Just make sure to get the coyote color in whichever boot you choose and you should be fine. https://www.uspatriottactical.com/o...MIhbyKsuqg9wIVUQZ9Ch18CgaJEAQYASABEgI0BfD_BwE

We purchased direct form Oakley and you maybe able to call in to ask about a military discount. I used mine for our DS and the boots were $90 instead of $150. Light Assault 2 in coyote brown.

Did he by any chance mention anything about the width? My feet are very wide, and I have been told that the Nikes run slim and that the Oakleys would be more accommodating to my feet.

He didn't-- He has an average foot width. I'm sorry, I don't know if the Oakleys have more width.

We ordered 3 pair from Nike and 1 from Oakley. Once DD felt how light the Oak’s were she was sold, plus they fit better. We returned the 3 from Nike for full refund. Amazon has inflated prices on most of these boots right now. We ordered directly from the mfg. I only wish I would have been a little more persistent on the milt disc for Oakley. We paid $150 instead of the $90 listed CTParent.

My son has a wide foot. He is breaking in a pair of Oakleys now and loves them.

Question: my DS has completed the appointment kit but we are awaiting his MD appt/shots which is 5/2/2022.
Should we submit the kit now and then send the shot record later or just wait and finish the kit and then send it all through?

My DS ordered the Oakleys and Nikes. Both were very similar but he decided to keep the Nike SFB Gen 2. I think it is personal preference so it is a good idea to try a few if you are able. We ordered from Nike.com and oakleysi.com. Oddly enough, the regular Oakley site didn't have the Lite Assault 2 in stock. His regular size fit perfectly in both models. I hope this is helpful to someone!

Does submitting the kit now have any benefits? Like does it allow for more information to pop up or something once you submit it? If not then I would say wait

I saw something on the appointee booklet about submitting uniform measurements. However, I only see an area on my portal to put my shirt size for PT uniforms. Is there somewhere we are supposed to do uniform measurements?

As for clothing to bring, I just see t-shirts and underwear for my DS. How about socks? I'm going to substitute compression shorts for some of the underwear, which seems to be what some people are bringing.
