Can anyone tell me why the appointee tours are invitation only? Just wondering as my DS was hoping to attend one of the tours until we were told they are invitation only.
Thanks in advance.

The tours are for appointees only- unless your DS has been appointed, he won't be invited.
There's some lag time between receiving your appointment and getting the invite (3 days for me), so if he was recently appointed wait a week and keep an eye on your email- it should be there.
As far as I know, everyone who gets appointed gets an invite. Just not necessarily at the same time.

You could call the admission and ask them to send you a email invitation. You have to sign up online. Next tour is on 19th of April. Not much time to arrange a trip and the tour fill up very quick. Good luck.

He received his offer of appointment on March 24th and accepted it the following Monday the 27th. But as of today there's been no invite. He did receive all the other information that comes through the portal once you accept your appointment. I'll have him call admissions and see what he can find out.
Thanks for the info!

It seems like those who got appointments after 3/15 did not get the tour invite. I think there were only 3 dates, and they filled up fast. Maybe someone will decide not to go and free up a spot?

I may have mentioned this on a different thread in the past, but I would be happy to take anyone who is interested on an "appointee-style" tour. Official appointee tours are great, but they do indeed fill up quickly and the dates aren't very flexible for those with tight schedules.

On the other hand, you don't need to be an official appointee to just come visit, and if you know a cadet (me!) and don't have a criminal record or something, you can be escorted inside the cadet area as well. As long as you coordinate with me ahead of time, I can take you to my classes, too, and we can go to Mitchell Hall. The only difference would be that it's not an official "appointee" tour, so you don't get the Admissions-run part of it. However, I think that for most appointees, the most exciting part is shadowing a cadet around. To do that, all you need to do is know someone and come visit.

Anyone who is interested, please PM me and we can try to work something out. This is a standing offer, so anyone who would like should feel free. Congrats everyone!

Do they fill up quickly? I registered 3 people for the 4-19 tour just yesterday, so there may still be some room. I can't say I have much experience with these, but wildblueyonder's offer sounds excellent if things don't work out for the official tour.

My son received his appointment dated 22 March and we did not get a tour invite. We have done a general tour including a football game last year, the Navy game (mixed feelings on my part being retired Navy). How important is it to have the opportunity to shadow a cadet during his/her normal day?

It sounds like everyone had a great day yesterday despite the snow.
Thanks @wildblueyonder for your gracious offer.
