Appointee Tours

My DS received his appointment offer this morning. I'll try to keep my ask succinct here:

We had decided to hold off on doing a tour until we received word. The USAFA wants a decision on May 1st, however there are no dates open for April guided tours. As other people here have mentioned, I too, reached out the USAFA counselor for the region this morning to ask if any space April 26 or April 29. We can fly on over - relatively short flight. Earliest opening is May3rd. Was really hoping to get a guided type of tour....don't necessarily need a Q&A session per se...Any advice? I know there is a self guided tour, but not sure this would be helpful?

The self-guided tour is the same tour that any visitor to the campus can do (the visitor's center is very well done!). It will not allow you access to anything considered cadet-only areas. It is a beautiful place to visit and if you can go, I highly recommend it even if you can't get a guided tour. Take lots of pictures! Once I-Day hits, your "view" of this amazing place changes and it's fun to look back at the "before" photos.

I can probably show you around depending on when you're coming. Feel free to hit me up if you're interested! I may not be able to give you all the information Admissions would have, but I can certainly talk about/answer questions about USAFA from a cadet point of view.

Thank you for reaching out and offering. I will absolutely bring this up with my son and husband and see if they can nail down a date ASAP (who travels all the time - hard to nail down! that's why we were kinda waiting. ).

Update: I was frantic about the calendaring and when son came home said he had email that had a link for him to sign up for the April 26 tour (this is a special link I guess for appointees and not viewable or accessible via the direct website).

Glad to hear it. I will be helping out with the 26 April tour, so I may see him there.
