I have been here in Colorado Springs since monday and have toured the academy late afternoon yesterday. The smoke and ashes were heavy and the strong winds made things worse. There have been evacuations of USAFA housing to the south and there have been news reports of sponsor families that have been affected by this emergency. The latest from the USAFA portal is that the venue for in-processing has been changed to the Cadet Field House instead of Doolittle Hall. The scheduled report time stays the same. If there are any appointees that aren't able to contact their sponsor and need to be picked up from Colorado Springs Airport, PM me your contact # and our family may be able to pick up three-four appointees with limited luggage (SUV rental sits five) and drive you to your bed and breakfast or alternate lodging. AOG surely has contingencies in place but if a fellow appointee is stuck at the airport and is unable to contact sponsor because of disaster, we will do our best to help.

We can help if needed

I live in Colorado Springs, and can be of assistance if needed. If your candidate or parent needs some help just PM me. Our DS is a Midshipmen at the USMMA and I know the concern and difficulties there are with the little information that is provided.

I am a 2016 USMMA plebe candidate, I live just north of Colorado Springs. My mom has offered to drive or give any other assistance that is needed. PM me with what you need help with and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

There should be clearly marked AOG personnel at COS to facilitate the appointees
