I am so glad to hear they are doing this (again!)! In my kids' day, it was called Orientation (where we met Hornet!), and it was our first trip to Colorado. Very informative, and put our minds at ease.
We were put on the waitlist. On Monday we received an email that we were in and were able to pick which day worked for us. I bet they open more days up based on numbers on the waitlist.I tried signing up for an appointee tour but unfortunately I was put on a waitlist.
Did anyone attend the 3/21 tour that can comment on the day? DS attended sports camp after Soph year and SS after Jr year. So he's familiar with many things, but would not want to miss this too if it gives him a better feel for things to come.
Do you know what time the tour start? The confirmation paper has 7:00 am. But, post by SN17 has checked in at 7 am to 8 am and tour start at 8:00 am. Just want to get clarification. Thank you
Thank you. Around what time did you finish the tour. And does the Academy have a store to get some Academy stuff and you have time to shop?Do you know what time the tour start? I went to the tour and check in was 7:30-8am. I showed up at 7:45 and many people were still checking in up until 7:55 and 8:00 am.

Please pay attention to where the tour starts. Two years ago it was at Arnold Hall and this year on 3/21 it started at the Visitors Center (and yes we went to A-Hall as that is where I thought it started but we weren't the only ones......). Our DD wore nice jeans, casual top and hair down. She was dressed appropriately. It is important to dress in layers as the weather can change very quickly (it was 70 last Monday and snowed/blizzard on Friday morning) and wear good walking shoes as you will walk a lot. I logged over 18k steps on our tour. USAFA does a nice job.

KTMDad: Did your DD spend the day in with cadets or on the tour? The reason I am asking is my DD spent the day with the cadets & at some point, felt uncomfortable with hair down so she put it up, hence my suggestion. Also to repeat a story mentioned in an old post, we are from NY and when chicken fried streak was served for lunch, DD asked what it was. After being told, she then asked why was the gravy white? A cadet answered, "I guess you're not from around here!"Now she is a big fan & esp. enjoys an egg on her hamburger, which was also a 1st.

I just got back from the 3/21 tour yesterday. It was a great experience and definitely worth while. I came in with a lot of questions and left with none. Lots of informative briefs about airmanship, academics, athletics, and BCT. Shadowing a cadet was a great way to experience a typical day at USAFA.
