Appointment Acceptance Portal Update

Posted by Crair70:
Just today the official word from the usna is that only 550 appointments have been accepted with 430 additional offers sent ( not accepted yet) which means there are still a few hundred more most likely being reviewed.

I think this is silly because I would sleep on it for one night and gladly put my response in the next day! :yllol: I'm really hoping I get to this time around but I already know I didn't get picked off my MOC's slate because of recruited athletes but I'm really staying positive for the national pool! :thumb:

I do not think they typically have several hundred appointments from the enlisted force? At least that is not the case in past years. The class of 2015 had 46 total prior enlisted... 21 from the fleet and 25 from the prep school.
Based on the latest #'s released by Usna and projected class size I would expect 350-400 appointments still to be made - some may be enlisted but most will not.

acceptance deadline

our son's BFE states may 1 as deadline for decision.
how is it that you are getting april 15?

due date

our's said May 1 also but she turned it in the next day. She put so much work into getting it that there was no decision to be made- she had alreay made it.

several appointees whose BFE's are dated in the last two weeks have reported April 15 deadlines. What is the date on your appointment letter? Apparently, the first appointment offers that came out have May 1 deadlines, but recent ones have April 15 deadlines.

DD's had May 1 as the drop dead date. Could it be that they have moved up the acceptance date on the latest appointments to get a very tight read on head count so they can get as close to the 1,050 number as possible? Could be that they offer the appointment with a short window, reset and send out more offers until they are on the number by mid May? Something is fishy or they wouldn't have had the two deadline dates. If anything, they should have had the earliest deadlines for 4/15 and they next wave for 5/1. Why can't this just be open about the process?

BobBigBoy,

You have actually guessed correctly. USAFA Admissions made the decision to move the deadline up because USAFA must be especially careful not to overshoot the class size this year. Anyone who was offered before that decision has a 1 May deadline (and that still stands). Appointments offered after this point will have two weeks from the date the appointment appears on their portal.

Still, there are many, many excellent candidates that USAFA hopes to be able to make offers to. USAFA will have a much clearer picture on April 16th as to what it can do.

Insider is likely our most accurate source of information at this point.

Appointee Data Collection

Received an email stating that the Appointee Data Collection is now open.
(that is all).

Language Placement Tests

The Spanish and German Language Placement Test(s) links are now working
That is all.

My CC pulled me in his office yesterday and told me I'd be attending the Prep School this summer. I checked my portal this afternoon and it reads "Air Force Academy Prep School (offered Scholarship)." I literally just copied and pasted that. Does anybody else's say the same thing?? Well anyway, now I'm just waiting for my BFE, more mailbox stalking to come......:thumbdown::thumbdown:

here is a link that will take you to a copy of LAST YEARS Appointee Package. I caution you to understand that this year the package may be different, but something similar to this is what you will receive from Academy Admissions in the mail (your BFE).
