Quick question for those out there who have received and accepted their appointments. Did you receive acknowledgement from USNA that your acceptance was received and acknowledged? If not, I guess appointees don't hear anything from USNA until the Permission to Report Package is received sometime in the March/April timeframe?

My kids never heard anything until the Permit to Report Package arrived. I can't remember, did the acceptance letter also request her birth certificate? That may be in the PTR package. I just remember not knowing if they received that either, until they returned the copy of the birth certificate back to us in the mail. I was like, hmm, guess they got it!

We haven't heard anything more either. We did receive his birth certificate back in the mail, but nothing else in the envelope. I know what you're feeling as I was wishing for some acknowledgement that his acceptance was received as it still doesn't feel real at times!!! Can't wait to receive the Permit to Report Package. In the meantime we have booked our stay in Annapolis for I-Day and PPW! I think I am just as excited as my son!!!

Yes, the original BFE (appointment folder) also requested the birth certificate and had a police records check form to drop off with law enforcement. Mailed the acceptance, birth certificate (with a SASE) and dropped off the police records check form. I know they received it because we used certified mail. We are also booked for I Day and parents weekend. Cant wait to meet you all! This is all still like a dream in our home. A very very good dream.

Yes, a very very good dream indeed! We booked for I-day and PPW too. BUT, we may be changing PPW hotel. We originally booked the one we stayed in for DD1s 2nd class parents weekend, which is outside of Annapolis and close to airport and Arundel Mills Mall, But then I just remembered that plebes don't get to stay overnight over PPW, so we will have to make that drive back and forth each day. It was nice staying "off the reservation" when 2C Mid could stay the entire long weekend with us, but not so sure about it for PPW!

Echoing Juvat, hopeful2019, & falconchic88. We received DS birth certificate back from USNA, but have received no other communications. Have I-Day & PPW booked as well. We are bringing grandparents with us to I-Day, we are all excited and looking forward to it. I keep stalking the internet to find any pieces of info that are out there! Can't wait to meet everyone! This forum has been great. I've learned a LOT here.

In case you weren't aware, There are already two facebook groups for parents of class of 2019, plus the Mids parents group. All are also good places to gain information.

There are two for 2019? What is the difference between them? I'm already a member of the MMAD group, but I was waiting for BFE because I heard you needed a pic of appointee with certificate to be accepted to one of the 2019 groups. Headed to facebook next!

From what I recall, one was started by a parent as the other hadn't been opened by the admins to members yet at the time. Both will have good info regardless, so look for them. (USNA class of 2019 Mid Mom and Dads has about 56 members and USNA class of 2019 Parents Page has about 169 right now). I'm not sure about needing a pic of the appointment to join, but the admins there will let you know. Don't forget to also look for the USNA parent club of your state. You may find that online or on Facebook too. Great sources of info and it's hard for them to find out who the newly appointed plebes are this early in the game. Most parents clubs have some kind of function before I-day so it's good to reach out. They usually get the names and contact info of the plebe who doesn't always pass on the info to the parents.

What does MMAD stand for?

MMADs are facebook closed groups for Mid Parents. MMAD stands for USNA Mid Mom's and Dads. They have a general group for all mid parents and then separate groups for each class.

Wonderful dream. Yesterday BFE celebration with DGS, collected birth certificate and dropped off police records check with our local Police Chief. Today, mailed acceptance, birth certificate and used certified mail (thanks for the idea Juvat). Booked for I Day and Parents Weekend at the Sheraton Annapolis. We are all literally walking on clouds and I continue to pinch myself and knock on wood. Dream that seemingly is coming true! So looking forward to being part of this wonderful group of people. Best wishes for all. It will happen (knock on wood).!

Thanks falconchic88. Finding my way with a semblance of confidence.
