Appointment Acceptance

usmacandidate2020 - there is something you should seriously consider when making your decision whether to accept ROTC at an ivy league school (or any school) vs. USMA.
You want to make sure that the ROTC program at the school you are considering is strongly supported by the school's administration. When researching the schools that my DS received AROTC scholarships to,
it quickly became clear to us that the "best" schools did not necessarily have strongly supported ROTC programs. In fact, for one of the schools, 1/2 of the 9 ROTC cadets dropped out of ROTC their first year, due
to lack of support from the school. Just be sure to research each ROTC school thoroughly to make sure that you
will receive the support and encouragement by the administration and student body that you deserve. Good luck with your decision!

Relax. Be glad you are weighing options. IMO it's healthier than having a singleminded, do-or-die obsession with USMA, or for that matter, any SA or any college. Seriously, what happens when there is an accident, some life tragedy, anything, that causes a wash-out before R Day? Their life dreams are "crushed"? At 18? Approach it soberly, as you are doing. Your achievement and dedication up to this point suggest you are doomed to succeed wherever you go and at whatever you do. Go where you'll be happiest.
