Has anyone received an appointment after being deferred? I've been searching past posts but can't find anything on the topic updating deferred status.

A deferral means the Admissions Board has initially reviewed your package but needs additional information before making a final decision. That info could include first semester grades, new ACT/SAT scores, etc.

Clearly, your next set of grades will be important. In particular, they may be looking for a grade in calc, chem or physics, especially if it's at an AP level. An "A" will obviously be great. A "C" will hurt.

Deferral does not mean you will not get an appointment just means that they need more information.

I've been deferred until my first semester senior grades are sent in. And I'm getting worried as well since I've got everything else in and am just waiting for admissions to send any kind of letter. I'll be praying for you. Hope you do the same for me. God bless

Yes. There have been a couple posts on these forums, that I saw, of people who status was updated to deferred on or about 1/15 and then they received an appointment a few days later. There is no need particular reason to worry if your status says deferred. It's just like waiting for a normal appointment at this point in time. Of course you would probably worry about that too.

For Kinnem or others...

Is there a place to check status for USNA candidates? The applicant page has things on file such as SAT scores, dodmerb, nominations on file, etc... but not for status, such as deferred. Is there another place for candidates to check?

There is not.
My understanding is that BGO's have access to SOME additional information and RD's have access to significantly more information. The problem is that their instructions are that the information they have access to is for their personal use and is not to be shared with candidates.
