To precede this, I will state that I understand it's a holistic application process, and that admission cannot be determined just from statistics. I also understand that decisions are made relative to the other incoming cadets, and that it changes year to year.

I thought I'd post my stats, hoping for some feedback. Please let me know what you think!

HS GPA: 3.6
College GPA: 4.0 (including calc 1&2, chem 1, physics 1, writing 310, german 302)
I have been enrolled at University of Alaska for the first semester of my senior year, and will be next semester as well
ACT: 34 Reading: 35 Writing: 35 Math:29 Science: 35
SAT: 1410 Reading: 750 Math: 660

Varsity sports: Soccer, Competitive Cheerleading (Captain), Gymnastics(Captain), Track
Extracurriculars: Boxing, rockclimbing instructor, club volleyball, ballet en pointe, tutoring (volunteer), soup kitchen volunteer work, animal shelter volunteer, sports medicine intern at UAA
Employment: part-time through school year (10,11) full-time during school year (12)

CFA:
pushups: 40
situps: 75
pull ups: 4
basketball throw: 30' 2"
shuttle run: 9.0 sec
mile: 6:28

I'm mostly concerned about my high school GPA, math scores on ACT/SAT, and basketball throw. I know my pushups and situps are a few reps off from the average, but I'm really hoping that the pullups, mile time, and varsity sports will compensate... not sure how it works. I'm planning on reapplying if I don't receive an appointment this year, so any feedback would be awesome. Thank you!

If you're a female, I think you will be fine with your CFA. If male then your CFA is very weak in 3 areas. Your run time is fine since you ran under 8 mins. Your scores and GPA looks fine. My only concern is the nomination and DODMERB Qualification. If you have not applied for Nominations, you may be too late for Noms. No Nom No Admissions. Otherwise I would about it especially since you're from Alaska you will not be competing agains many candidates. Toughest states are: CA TX NY VA DC

Thanks for the reply! I’m female. I received a Presidential nom, and will hear back about congressional in January.

I would add Florida to that toughest states list. I think your strong college GPA will offset any concerns about your high school GPA and your Math ACT. If you keep doing well in the college Calculus courses and maintain that A average, that will weigh strongly. Extracurrics and leadership look good. Have you interviewed with your ALO yet? There are resources out there to help you prepare for interviews - that's the holistic part you mentioned.

I did complete the ALO interview, about a month ago. I’m fairly confident it went well! Thanks for the reply, and I’ll definitely try to maintain that college GPA through next semester.

What resources are available?

When DS was preparing, a quick search on Amazon provided books on interview prep. But in addition there are books such as: Service Academy Admissions: An Insider's Guide to the Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and Military Academy by Ashley Schmitt. It is actually a workbook with several pages devoted to preparing for the essays and the interview. Another resource is The Insider's Guide to the Air Force ROTC Scholarship for High School Students and Their Parents by Robert Kirkland.

Your stats look strong but it will all come down to the nomination slates you are on. Do not worry about competive states or districts as you cannot control. We may say Texas is tough but it only takes one other person applying to make and slate competive.

Your package looks terrific. Have a good plan B, but I'd bet you'll get an offer of appointment.

(In full disclosure though, I have lost plenty of bets.) :)
