Did he apply for the VP? USNA manages the selection for those, as well as for other nom sources they control, so the door isn’t slammed shut, but is still slightly ajar.My sons application is still pending. He DOES NOT have a nomination . Does he have a chance at all of receiving an appointment?
The Academy has a few hundred nominations they can assign to people that do not have one that are outside of your typical Congressional ones
Theoretically, you are in the game until you get the TWE. CAPT MJ is correct , there are a few nom sources under USNA control but a lot less than the "few hundred" mentioned by Ironman. Look at the Nomination sources on USNA.edu, and consider which you candidate is qualified for, ie. each category execept VP has some qualifying requirement. Bottom line, its still possible, but at this point.Did he apply for the VP? USNA h manages the selection for those, as well as for other nom sources they control, so the door isn’t slammed shut, but is still slightly ajar.
Glad you are happy with NROTC. It’s an excellent path, well done.No Nom to USNA and the door was slammed shut with my nose and index finger stuck in the door jamb about 2 weeks ago and I did apply to the VP. Didn't even get NAPS or Foundation offer. Luckily, I did have a plan B (NROTC), which worked out and I'm very happy with.
Bravo Zulu. While path is different from USNA you will still end up in the same spot. Go Navy.No Nom to USNA and the door was slammed shut with my nose and index finger stuck in the door jamb about 2 weeks ago and I did apply to the VP. Didn't even get NAPS or Foundation offer. Luckily, I did have a plan B (NROTC), which worked out and I'm very happy with.
Thank you Captain MJ, much appreciated for your kind words. I'm just waiting to see which university I will attend NROTC, I've been accepted to a few already, but I'm waiting for a cluster more, I should know in the next few weeks. To add to the convolutedness, I still have USAFA and AFROTC still hanging in the balance as well, but I have to say, the interviews I've had with the collegiate NROTC personnel was absolutely stellar, I was so impressed.Glad you are happy with NROTC. It’s an excellent path, well done.
Wow that’s a crazy story. So odd.My DS went in to congressional nomination boards with USNA as his “first” choice of SAs but noted that he would be proud to serve in any branch. His MOC nominations board was composed primarily of Army officers that thought he would be a great fit for West Point and he subsequently received that principle nomination to West Point. He had applied to three SAs and USNA was still out there (appointments to WP and USMMA in-hand.) My son didn’t want to seem unappreciative and say “thanks for WP but can you also nominate me for USNA? But, I spoke with the USNA Director of Nominations and Appointments who informed me that even though my son did not have a nomination there were still unused nom. spots on our congressman’s roster that THEY (USNA) would reach back out to the congressman to attempt to get on my son’s behalf or there were other USNA discretionary sources that could be used (such as Superintendent noms. No TWE yet and my son is still hopeful.
As long as there has been no rejection / TWE received you are still in the running! Good Luck and think positive ….. but, always have that Plan “B” ready in case.
Our senator would not give another nom if u get a rep nom, then one county over same senator gave second nom to some one w a rep nomination, so the rules are there are whatever rules they feel like any given day lolA MOC NOM is only one of the places where an applicant can get a NOM. All SA's recommend you apply for ALL NOM's for which you are eligible. Until an applicant gets a TWE, they are still in the running for an appointment. Typically, by 4/15 everyone will know their status.
