Hey everyone, i read a lot of threads about being a hold status applicant and i too ride the same boat. I really want to attend MMA but as i wait longer and longer i get more uncertain and discouraged. I talked to the swim coach about what order the admissions goes in because as far as i know they go state by state, does anyone know how the order in states is influenced? is it the same every year? and i have also read about some people talking about a "pre-academy" if they dont get accepted like norwich for the USAFA, is there such a thing?
thanks for any help you all can give me! really appreciate it.

Not so sure about the order of states/region in regard to admissions, but as far as the "pre-academy" goes, I have some info. It would be an additional prep year to beef up your application in a certain area. A prep year can be done at a normal university, community college or a service academy/military related prep school. I am not certain about the Norwich school which you mentioned, but I do know that USMMA gets most preps from New Mexico Military Institute. My DS, who has been offered an appointment for the c/o 2016, attended Northwestern Prep School this past semester. This is a civilian prep school that is very well known amongst the various SA. I know that a couple other of my DS NWP classmates are also going USMMA. Does this answer your question?

Superswimmer, It depends when your school year starts they need your first semester grades before they can review your application.

Not sure how the state by state goes, but from what I've been told it's all a point system. Just do what you can to get more. And I didn't get in last year, but received an appointment this year after going to a state school so it's not the end all be all to not get in now.

On another note, what are your times for swimming? Curious because I swam since I was little and a friend of mine has been talking to the coach as well but is on hold also.
