Appointment Notif?

Hello there!

Currently, I am sitting on an LOA and fully complete application (including senatorial nomination), but I am curious as to how I will be notified if I am chosen for an appointment. Is this done by mail, in my candidate portal, both (if so in which order)?!

You’ll get an email that your portal has an update. You might also get a call from your MOC’s office as well before that happens.

If you’re lurking on your portal 24/7 and ignoring your email, you’ll see it there first if no call.

Mail is last.

Presuming you fulfill the obligation outlined in the LOA, the answer is yes and yes. Both mail and portal.

Piece of advice….answer unknown phone numbers at this point. Some people assume a call will be from Washington on caller ID, if from your Senator. Not necessarily true. Could be, but also could be a staffers private cell, for example
And make sure your voicemail is set up, and professional, in case you miss it.

IF they call. They don’t all do that.

In all honesty, I think I may have the most portal logins of anyone from the class of 2026 so I'm sure I'll notice it right away 😂

Oh no, I didn't even think about my voicemail lol! Thank you for the advice! I received a nomination from Senator Rubio and considering that I live in the third most populated state, I'm not expecting much...

Sometimes they wait until there is a big FIRST WAVE after 15/18 January--they will send out about 500 BFE's in one big tranche.

DS had an LOA and completed application plus nom by first week of Dec - did not get the BFE until end of Jan. This is a very busy time for USMA and they did seem to send out BFE in large groups, not trickle. Also, like much of the world, USMA gets very quiet during the holiday period while admin folks may be on leave.

Yes. You just click it in the portal. I got an LOA in August and waited until January for it to pop up.

I can't tell you how many times, I called a job prospect to schedule an interview and had to listen to horrific, insulting phone messages.

My son first got a call from his nominating Congressman, then 2 days after, his portal changed. 2 days after that, his FFR called him. It took about a month for the BFE to arrive. Good luck to the class of 2026! Exciting times. 🙂

DS was notified via his portal. A big green box that said: CONGRATULATIONS! You have been offered Admission to West Point! We had just finished watching Army beat Navy and decided to check his portal before heading out to dinner. The timing of finding out seemed so appropriate.
