Appointment Possibility

I recently received my congressional nomination to USNA, Qualified on CFA and DoDMERB; although, my school does not offer AP classes, Pre-cal/Calculus and Physics. I dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot through the Naval Academy which will make me the first one in my family to be in the military. Throughout my application process to USNA, I have asked my counselor on what I needed to do to fulfill missing gaps on my missing core subjects, but they said that they could only offer what they had. My highest math class is Honors Algebra 2; and my highest science class is Honors Human Anatomy with Honors Bio and Honors Chem finished. I basically took the hardest classes that my school could offer.

I was planing to apply for online classes; although, my family and I don't have the financial status to pay. I resulted in studying Physics and Calculus for free in Khan Academy and edX.

Will this affect me from receiving an offer of appointment?

(I currently live on Guam, but I was born and raised in the Philippines. English is my second language and I am praying for the best.)

I would accept either NAPS or Direct Appt. Anything to be a part of the best Naval Academy in the world and to serve the country that gave me many opportunities.

Go Navy! Beat Army!

I don’t know if it will or not. Competition is fierce.

But I am pulling for you.

Thank you! I am praying for the best. During this wait, I am currently prepping physically by increasing my running mileage while working on my pushups, pull-ups and sit-ups. I also continued studying for AP Physics, Calc BC/AB, AP Stats and APUSH on Khan Academy so I can be prepared if offered an appointment.

USNA will know you took the hardest classes your school had. Did the outside studying you did get captured in your essays, LOR or BGO interview? I will be honest without some higher level math, USNA would be a tough place. But the good news... NAPS or prep could definitely help with that. These are just my opinions, nothing less or more. If you put your best package forward you should be proud of that. Waiting is hard, but it’s all you can do. Good luck.

The other piece of information would be your test act/sat scores. Knocking it out of the park there would also be an indicator. I’m rooting for you too!
