Appointment to CGAS

Not really, but will be playing baseball, so from what I can tell, should be NAPS or MMI
My DS is at NAPS. It has been rough, only allowed off base 3 or 4 times since July. We haven’t been allowed to see him at all. The other prep schools have been far more relaxed on COVID restrictions. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon!

Yes, hope the restrictions loosen up soon. For our DS and us... Did your DS choose NAPS or just assigned there?

You might already know, but if he plays baseball at Marion that takes away a year of eligibility for him I believe. So he wouldn't be able to play senior baseball at USCGA. Keep that in mind as you guys decide what to do next year.

3 baseball players at MMI currently. None of them are playing baseball at MMI. Focus is on gaining an appointment and preparing for what lies ahead at the Academy next year.

My daughter is CGAS at GMC. She was recruited softball at CGA. There is no way she would have time to play due to the strict academic schedule and military obligations while at school.

DS received an appointment to CGAS program today. We are excited for him and all the others that either received CGAS or Academy appointments.
Congrats to your son! Did he happen to get a phone call? Also, does he know which prep school he would be assigned to?

Would love to hear from others that received the CGAS appointment too...
Hi. Our twin dds also received the early action decision of the CGAS appointments. One was called on FRI DEC 18, the other was not available at the time, but she received the news in her portal.
We are so blessed to have the opportunities. They are waiting to hear from the other academies (& hope to before the February deadline.) Their plan B is ROTC at a college—waiting on the 2nd board for that. They were both accepted early action at Notre Dame. So surprised.

Prep schools are assigned later in the progress. Scholars are first asked if they have any preference and if so why. For my son who got his CGAS appointment last year submitted a preference of NAPS due to him being a recruited football players and also it’s proximity to home.

DS, recruited baseball player, received a CGAS offer (via phone from his coach and AO), on 12.7. Awaiting DoDMERB. appointment. No prep school assignment/pick yet. Congratulations everyone!
Prep school assignments were not issued until late May 2020.

The coach said that it would NOT count toward his eligibility at the Academy...

Congrats to your DS... Hope we get to go watch some games!
