Appointment to CGAS

Has anyone gotten off the waitlist for CGAS yet? Is it common for people to be offered a spot off of this waitlist?
Based on the 2024 thread, I didn't see anyone post an acceptance who was wait-listed. But that doesn't mean we can't be!

WhooHoo! CGAS acceptance packages are coming next week and we got the link for the enrollment forms today! I wonder if the appointees will find out their prep school when they access these?
Also, we are looking forward to our USCGA visit at the end of the month. Anyone else going then? This time, I am loading up on pictures and merch. Lol.

Have scholars been asked to submit their prep school preferences yet?

Where did you get the links? We will also be there on Tuesday.

At last week's CGAS Teams' presentation, Lt. Strickland said selections for prep school won't be out until early-mid May.

DS received conditional appointment in March and was just notified today that he was granted a medical waiver. :bounce1:
Now the wait on which Prep he will attend. Hoping for NAPS but he will take any school, just excited for the opportunity.

I can tell you that for Class of 2021 NAPS was tough, IMO much tougher than the other prep schools. Because it’s on a military base it’s very much a different experience to what you get at MMI and GMC. They may be more similar for the Class of 2022 but this last year was brutal for the scholars that went to NAPS.

Congratulations!

So we collected our DS from NAPS today and have just arrived home. From dropping him off at USCGA last July we have only had him home once for 3 weeks at Christmas. Good to have him back for 6 weeks before he has to report back to USCGA for Swab Summer.

I think we all found CGAS much harder than we expected, of course COVID played its own part in that and hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

I can remember thinking when my own DS received his appointment to CGAS a huge sense of relief and almost the finality of job done. How very wrong I was! For those applicants and parents who have received an appointment to CGAS Well Done!! But buckle up the ride has only just begun! Remember the aim of this year is a full appointment to USCGA and that is one hell of a prize. If this year is any indicator not all of you will make it, some will decide it just isn’t for them and leave early, some may well get injured and have to withdraw, some won’t make the academic standards required and some may get offers of a full appointment and decide to decline. One thing is certain, you will grow through the process and be better prepared for what is in your future after your experience as a Scholar.

Agreed it has been a rollercoaster of a year with CGAS.

I couldn’t agree more. I wasn’t prepared as a parent of how difficult this would be for my kid. It wasn’t physically thought but all mental. No matter how much you think your kid is prepared academically, it was still very difficult.

It definitely was a ride and still is ... :D Remember, some/most forms are due by June 1st.
