Appointment to Class of 2015

Congrats !! I wasn't sure if anyone else from KY got an appointment or even applied . LTJG Sullivan called me as well a few weeks ago and let me know I have a conditional appointment too ! :thumb:

Congratulations SZwenger! I'm in the western part of KY.

I got a defferal letter today, obviously pretty disappointed, but i was wondering if there's anyone who had this happen to them with some advice...How can i make my application the best this spring?
My SATS are Math: 670 CR: 760 Writ: 760...is it worth retaking them?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

As has been stated many times before, a deferral from EA is not the end of the world. Many kids, including mine, got appointments off the deferral list.

I would not bother retaking the SAT's since yours are already very good. I would keep in touch with my admissions officer, sending in grades from the upcoming quarters and any awards, recognition or service projects you've achieved.

Have you had an AAP interview? If not, try to arrange one. Best of luck in this quest.:thumb:

You should contact your Admissions Officer for guidance...obviously your SAT scores are above average/competitive and not what needs to be improved in your record. We really have a holistic review, so ACT/SAT scores are just one of many many many factors taken into account when selecting the best overall class.

Ok, thanks Objee and Boss! I've already emailed my admissions officer for some advice, i wish we could sit down and go through my app but obviously thats a bit much and not possible! I just plan on working my butt off over the next two months!

TWE...just arrived

DS received his defferal today.:frown: At lease there will be another chance during regular decision. Time for him to roll up his sleeves and work on his profile. Self improvement is never a bad thing.

Congratulations to the young men and women who have earned an appointment. Those stats are outstanding!

Good luck everyone awaiting that BFE and Merry Christmas to all of the helpful souls on this forum. You are appreciated!

My DD received her deferral letter today as well.. :frown: She was a little disappointed, but already is re-evaluating the package she sent in and is already preparing for the Feb. 1st deadline... Thanks again to all who helped with your guidance and support! (at least we get a break from stalking the mailman until April! :shake: )

Just opened the mail

Daughter received a conditional appointment!!

And today just happens to be her 18th Birthday.

Words cannot describe our happiness.

Congrats to all who have earned appointments. Unfortunately, our DD received deferral today....best wishes for a happy holiday season for all!

received my deferral today :(

time to continue obsessively stalking the forums as well as make sure I don't get anything less than perfect on my midterms!! Good luck to everyone else out there

DS received his deferral letter today too:( He took it really, really well. He said that he was happy to be getting a second look during regular admissions!! He can not send in his Fall transcript until mid- end of January. Our school has " Block" scheduling,(like a typical college schedule.) I hope he has time to get that in with finals ect. by February 1st!

deferral here too

DS also received a deferral. The upside is that he will just push himself harder to improve his application for the second look...never a bad thing!

Congrats to all those who earned appointments!

Deferral here as well.

Can anyone shed light on how many that are deferred actually end up receiving appointments? Our DD has to now make decisions on D1 athletic offers and we do not know how to advise her as this was her first choice.

Does anyone know when those who were deferred will begin knowing of their next decision being made in the regular deadline round?

Also, to those of you accepted to the Scholars program...would you mind sharing you stats? i.e SAT/ACTs etc., etc.?

Does anyone know when those who were deferred will begin knowing of their next decision being made in the regular deadline round?

They will know their final decision status by April 15, 2011.

Does anyone know when those who were deferred will begin knowing of their next decision being made in the regular deadline round?

We'll start reevaluating EA deferrals in February, so some letters will probably start going out in March and then everyone will be notified by April 15th.

So exciting! Congrats to all of the appointees!
My son received his LOA in November and now has a nomination from Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn and the Honorable Congressman Tom Cole to attend the USAFA.
We are very excited for him but he is even more so.
Does anyone have any advice for him or for us?

Congratulations to your son! A US Air Force Academy appointment is great accomplishment!

You may want to try your question in the USAFA section, as this is a US Coast Guard Academy appointment thread and not many USAFA appointees post in here.

2015!

Congrats all of you have been appointed to the class of 2015! And for those who are still waiting...keep up the faith, submit any new information to Admissions and keep in contact with your Coast Guard Liason Officer.

Really looking forward to 2015 coming to the Academy :thumb:

There is no such title / person.

Applicants / candidates should contact their Academy Admissions Partner (AAP) or Admissions Officer if they have questions about their status and/or the application process.
