I hope you mean you won an appointment from a nomination from Sen Lieberman. :thumb:

Senators and Representatives nominate. Only the President can appoint.

Actually, USNA offers the appointments based on nominations from MOCs, the President, etc. Many mids may never know the source of their appointment, unless they receive a principal nom from only one source. And, in the end, it really doesn't matter as long as you have that appointment in hand. :thumb:

I guess we should say - Candidate are selected for appointments by USNA - technically they are appointed by the President.

Title 10 US Code:
TITLE 10--ARMED FORCES

Subtitle C--Navy and Marine Corps

PART III--EDUCATION AND TRAINING

CHAPTER 603--UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY

Sec. 6953. Midshipmen: appointment

Midshipmen at the Naval Academy shall be appointed by the President
alone. An appointment is conditional until the midshipman is admitted.

About 2 weeks ago I received a letter saying I earned one of Lieberman's 10 nominations, and this past monday a rep from the senator's office called my house and notified my family that I received an appointment to the naval academy

on the dodmerb website it says:
United States Naval Academy: Offer Extended

The important thing is - you are in. Congratulations. Start running and working out now. If you haven't already. I mean it.

Oh, and keep your grades up.

Bs are okay...just try not to show too steep a downward trend over the next semester... Working hard in your courses the last semester in high school will be good training for your first semester at USNA. Just like following USNA's fitness program is good training for plebe summer.

A 'B' in an AP class looks better than a 98 in a basic low rung high school class, anyway.
