I just recieved a letter in the mail saying "Congradulations! On behalf of the Superintendent, I am pleased to offer you a conditional appointment to the United States Coast Guard Academy Class of 2013!" That is the best sentence I have ever read so far.

I do have one question. I also recieved a letter from DoDMERB. They found me disqualified for Distant visual acuity not correctable to 20/20 in each eye. I was wondering if this is a disq. that the academy will send a waiver for. Thanks.

I am very excited and good luck to everyone else.

Congrats! I am not sure but i think you are atuomatically considered for a waiver but idk. Best of luck!!!:thumb:

Congratulations to you! Check with Mr. Mullen of DodMerb (he is awesome) regarding the USCGA waiver. The waiting is almost over for you! You have an appointment, wahoo!! You and your parents should be very proud!

where can i contact Mr. Mullen from DoDMERB? Thanks

His contact information is posted on the DoDMERB section. I too have nothing but praise for Mr. Mullen. Be sure to include your full name and the last 4 digits of your social security number in your email. You are automatically considered for a waiver but Mr. Mullen can give you a better answer than anyone here.

"Official" DoDMERB Responses - IMPORTANT CONTACT INFORMATION
If you have any questions regarding DoDMERB about policies, procedures, your specific case (I will have to verify who you are), or anything else, I am the DoDMERB official to provide you a response. I'm always available and in most cases, will respond immediately, but will respond within 24 hours on all cases.

My email address is ALWAYS open. I'm the DoDMERB Bureaucrat Buster. Give me a chance:) Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil

Now that I've been at this for a while, I "usually" log in late at night and several times throughout the weekend. The issue is the fact that this is not an "official" site and the USAF maintains a very high level of internet security. So, I can't access the site from work---I must log in from home.

Thx in advance for your understanding, patience., and the opportunity to assist you

Larry Mullen

When your conditional appointment arrived, was it in a letter envelope or in the large, regular appointment package?

it was just in a little envalope and not in a bigger one. I believe you wont get a big envalope unitll a full appointment is granted
