Ok, my son is worried sick. He has an appoinment for USAFA for the class of 2013.
He went to NWP and then a local college. He ended up getting a D in calculus at the college. He had an extremly hard professor which nobody understood.
He is affraid he will lose his appointment. He is ecicated to becoing an officer and pilot. What can he expect??
Worried Dad.

One D in Calc? Probably not an issue. The academy expects freshmen to take calc 1 or calc 2 at the academy.

probably not an issue unless he has like all Cs on his report card. If all his other grades are real good they most likely wont do anything.

I'm in the same boat. I had a good high school record, but i went to college to pursue other things. now im hoping to go to the academy, but i got an F in stats last year. I'm gonna retake it this fall, but im worried that they i'll not get an appointment if i send in my transcript before christmas, and at the same time i don't want to wait that long (early bird gets the worm, right?) anybody have any suggestions?

thanks for the encouragement. What worried him the most was that he called his Congresswoman to cofirm our "photo" session last Saturday and they said to him that the admisssions office said his appointment was on hold.
He sent his transcripts in last Friday. Will they send anything to confirm he is still in?? Only 2 more weeks of worrying!!

Given the extra info, I would have him call admissions and ask. However, if the transcript was mailed on Friday and the session was going to be Saturday, seems somewhat quick for the transcript to be the problem ... did he mail the transcripts or fax them? He should call admissions and relay that the MOC told him that his appointment was "on hold" and get clarification ... We won't be able to shed much light on what is going on here - admissions has the data and they know why it is on hold.

I agree, call admissions. It's alot better than waiting.
