Anyone know anything about appointments coming soon? Also, has anyone received a rejection yet? Facebook hasn't posted the mass wave of 500 appointments yet, did I miss something or has that not gone out????

As far as I can tell, there has been no mass wave but I am just a parent playing the waiting game with no special insight. There were several that went out in January and February, but since the 28th, there have only been a few reported here. Of course, it could be that a bunch went out to people not on the forum.

The West Point Parents’ Page posted a tidbit of information some several days past remarking that approximately 500 candidates have been appointed to West Point thus far. This implies that there are an abundance of spots remaining for candidates—remember not all 500+ will accept their appointments.

Thanks for the update, GoArmy2022. We have had 77 self reports here in the appointment tracking thread which accounts for about 15% of the total offers assuming the 500 mentioned above.

(Note-I play with data for a living so this is just a digital way to twiddle my thumbs while we wait for new information. It is very likely to be inaccurate.)

So far, of the 77--Since this is all self reported, it could change without us knowing.
  • 52 reported accepting (67.5%)
  • 4 reported declining(5%) ,
  • 21 reported undecided (27%).
Recruiting region breakdown
  • Far West-12
  • Great Lakes-8
  • Northeast-19
  • Southeast-20
  • Southwest-18

Further, assuming that 1200 appointments are available, if 15% of those are reported here, then the total would go from 77 to around 183.

I believe the wording in the parents page was that 502 have "accepted" their appointment. That would indicate that other offers may have been extended but either rejected or still pending decision. What number that population represent is unknown. Still appears to be lots of room left in Class of 2022 though.

Yes, I agree. I am just having some fun with the numbers.

~500 have accepted. ~300 additional appointments are out pending candidate decision. An additional ~500 scheduled to go out over the next couple of weeks....

They were transparent with the numbers above. Target is 1180. Recently visited WP.

Yikes, only 500 to go out and this could go on till May. Thank you for the statistics my husband was just asking me what they were.

Dad you're a nerd

Don't forget the 200+ USMAPS folks who won't get their acceptances until May'ish...Take them out of your "available slots" equation.

I do know one candidate who received his rejection letter last week. I thought he had a great chance of appointment, either through MOC slot or national pool - 33 ACT, Eagle Scout, Varsity team captain, All-State sport honors......... It must be a very competitive pool this year.

Also...there are usually 30 slots to international students.
However, none of this should be the least bit discouraging.
Some who accept will decline if they are accepted to USAFA or USNA.
Really, it is impossible to game the system with any accuracy.

Chances really depend on where you are in terms on nominations. The prepsters do not really compete against most other candidates as their guarantee as an additional appointee. They may get a principal nomination or win a slot but that is the exception.

As a high school applicant with only one MOC nomination, your best chance for admission is to win that slate. Most districts do not have 10 strong candidates so you really just need to be better than 3 or 4 in your year. The scoring system favors college re-applicants so a strong college applicant beats a strong high school applicant most times when it is time for the NWL offers.

With the higher percent of acceptances, the spots available after all slates are resolved is smaller than it has ever been.

I lived through the nomination game as I had a very strong DD who lost out on her slate due to a principal but was not high enough to get a NWL slot. She did not get an offer. After a year of college, she was in the first wave of offers.

Well my DS status changed today--" we received all your application info and the admissions committee has qualified your file". Then explains about no rolling admin and waiting list. Good or bad?
