@SAparent2023 My conditions existed prior to the DoDMERB exam. The waiver process was initiated for me the last half of February.
Sounds like you didn't win your congressional slate and that you didn't make the top 150 for the NWL. You are most likely competing for the remaining slots, which are probably less than 100 at this time. I assume the request for someone to speak on your behalf it help you secure one of those remaining spots. Total speculation on my part...of course. Good luck.Anyone have any advice on what to do right now besides wait? Any emails I can send to reinforce interest, any email to say id be happy to take AOG, anything at all? Thanks.
Of course that would open the door to another 100 potential slots. I have no clue when that is decided. It could very well be that they are trying to decide if you should receive a Presidential nomination. We are all just speculating here. No one knows your specific case, except for Admissions. I do know if you were my kid, I'd have her lining up that person to speak on her behalf and probably get a second. You were told you were close...push it across the finish line.
Sounds like my DD story last year. Take the AOG if offered! Let it be known you want the AOG ( if you really want West Point), as it is your Willy Wonka Golden Ticket.Got news that I am below the cut line. However, every year people break bones, have bad grades, and get medically disqualified and I will therefore move up being 3Q. Wit that being said, I was told I would have been accepted last year already with the file I have now, however, USMA decreased the class size by 100 this year. I was told if direct doesn't work this year, I could get AOG and almost be guaranteed admission next year. Not good or bad news, just news.
The hardest part to hear was "you would've been accepted already if you applied with this file last year." However, they told me people will break bones, have bad grades, and get arrested and to not throw in the towel because there's a good chance I get in this year.@ontothefray22 "Below the cut line"--I am glad you called and got clarity. It is just news. You still are waiting...I am glad you reached out and learned this important information.
AOG is a great way to go--if USMA is your only dream. Otherwise ROTC at your chosen school, is also a wonderful way to learn and then serve.
This is not to say that I know that more will not be sent out; I do not know that and do not wish to crush any hopes. I am sure that as some deny it and we move on in the process other offers should go out.The bulk of the AOG scholarships have been sent out this year. I know that it can come before a TWE, and I'm pretty sure that in some cases it can come after, but that is rarer.
