April AROTC Board

I will bet that its a campus based scholarship as no one else has posted yet.
CC told us today 2-3 weeks for everything to be awarded, which makes sense as the April Board ending last Friday is is the last board for the year.

My son's status JUST CHANGED---told to schedule his DoDMERB. He has had all of his info in since Sept '09 and patiently waiting. So looks like things may be starting to happen!! Wow, it's been a long wait

Congrats suek66 and knkwi!:thumb:
Looks like it's starting to break-I'm feeling optimistic today.
Good luck everyone.

Congrats! :thumb:

Looks like you are in the neck of the woods where goaliegirl will be next year (Eau Claire). Lots of good schools in the region with ROTC. Hopefully, he got his first choice (should show up on the status page in the next couple of days).

Best of luck!

98charlie, he has not done any of the physical stuff yet. His status just changed yesterday. Thanks to Goaliedad for the info on the lag time at DoDmerb. IAfter this long wait, it was hard to believe. I actually keep going back and putting his ss# in! LOL! We too (like knKWI) have been waiting since September, so its been a long run.
This has been his dream since he was very little. What a treat to get to watch him run toward it!

That's awesome suek66 - congrats. I love a happy ending to a long wait!

I will tell you that my son was also awarded a 4 yr Campus base scholarship and his social was not in DODMERB until Concorde contacted us for the physical.

You can also log into concorde's website to view his physical information. Once you log in, you use your social as a username and your last name is the temporary password

Yes, we are from southern WI but his school choices are in Florida! He is keeping his hopes up for UCF in Orlando. He contacted the PMS today and he was told there are two govt scholarship openings still available and 2 champus based scholarships but they had not gotten word yet that he was offered a scholarship. I hate to get too excited yet until the paperwork actually comes through and his medical exam is done.

Well if there are scholarships left, that is always a good sign.

I hear you about not getting too excited about the scholarship until the paperwork and medical are complete. We hopefully will have the last of the remedial paperwork sent off by the weekend.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

We're in South Florida. A lot of hs grads chose to stay in state this year instead of going out of state. UCF is always a popular choice.
Mine wants to go to Washington State University but his backup is to FAU.

We're still waiting to hear something, also. Plan B is also going into effect soon (local school).

DS has been talking w/a USMC recruiter about the Platoon Leadership Course (PLC), and the recruiter was trying to get DS to enlist last week. We looked into the PLC, and the recruiter even met w/my husband, but we told DS that he didn't need to enlist because he can apply for the PLC while he's in college if he's still interested in it.

DS wants to do infantry - either w/Army or Marines.

Congrats! I sent you a PM.

Yes, I did mean a National Scholarship and then when we visited UCF we were told that they would be offering 2 "campus based" scholarships to those who were interested in attending UCF, enrolling in the ROTC and did not get a National scholarship. We were told their board meets on May 15th to choose those candidates. I do not know that all schools have these scholarships. When we visited the University of West Florida in Pensacola this type of scholarship was not mentioned.

Just wanted to let everyone know about the most recent email I got from CC when I inquired as to my son's status (I just really wanted to make sure his packet went before the March and/or April boards):

>>>>>>>>>At this time he has not been offered a Scholarship, the April board
just met last week and we have not made any offers from that board, we
will probably make those offers by the end of the month. You can check
the status line, if awarded the status will change and he will be sent a
letter.<<<<<<<<<<

So, looks like they will make all the final offers by the end of the month. Good luck to those still waiting!

So the April decisions will be made by the end of the month. Is the fact that our son received a Concorde packet and is listed on DoDMERB an encouraging sign? We had thought that the Army wasn't paying to test candidates unless they were definitely getting something.
Maybe that is true earlier in the year, but now that it's down to the wire they are testing those who are "close" or "in the running"?

Good luck to everyone.

Have you gotten in touch with CC to determine why your son was issued a Concorde packet? Maybe they can give you an early heads up!

army - rotc - medical

I just looked oat daughter's file in DoDMERB . Last week, a section for Army ROTC appeared and statis is noted as "waiver approved". But no mail yet. Can anyone lend info on what this means ? Does this mean she received a scholarship at the April board ? Multiple turnover in her contacts with ROTC, the school(s), etc - have left her with calls unanswered. Thanks , mom

I did and they didn't offer anything on the Concorde packet. Just that we'd know something in 2-3 weeks.
So apparently, my guess would be that they are probably still whittling down the pool and the final candidates and rather than make any promises, sending Concorde packets to those who are "close" to making the cut. Only a guess.
