April is a great month!

Well I found out I was not one of the 75% of those 3Q'd to get an appointment unfortunately.

But for those of you lucky enough to be one, I'll see you in the fleet in 4 years!

Best of luck to you all! My USNA road ends here.

Gamecock Kid - you are a classy person. I am sorry about your disappointment but you will have much success in your future endeavors. Good luck and best wishes to you.

Oh wow, I really posted the data at the "right" time...
I am very sorry for the letter.
Good luck to you.

Gamecock, sorry to hear the news. Best of luck whatever happens.

Gamecock, you are a class act, of this I am certain. Stay the course & remain proud. Enjoy a few months of down time. You've got change of command ceremonies coming soon! Kudos to you Commanding Officer. You have my deepest respect Sir.

GO COCKS!!

Thanks everyone, we're all destined for great things! And we have to remember: when one door closes, the others open just that much wider.

I'll still lurk around to see how everyone else turns out! Best of luck.

I'm getting nervous...
I hope I can still walk to the mail box tomorrow...

if we call later in the afternoon and a decision has been made, will they tell us what it is?

I just called the Academy to find out where to send updated information for my son's file. His status hasn't changed ("no decision yet") but I was told to forward any further information to his RD. I spoke to the service academy coordinator at the office of one of our congressmen. She said that her nomination contact indicated he is on the waiting list.

I saw another thread this morning where USNA1985 (a moderator) said:

USNA has informed BGOs that 1450 offers of appointment are being made for 1230 slots. These offers will go out by April 15. There were over 15,000 applications. Candidates have until May 1 to accept or decline their appointments.

There is a wait list. Whether anyone on the wait list will be accepted depends on whether USNA gets 1230 acceptances from the 1450 offers. There is no word on how many people are on the wait list. There is no ranking within the wait list. If fewer than 1230 candidates accept their offers, USNA will review the wait list and pick the most qualified candidates. Those on the wait list should submit new grades, honors, awards, etc. While new letters of recommendation are accepted, they are discouraged as USNA believes they generally repeat information already in the candidate's packet.

I may be completely wrong, but this comment leads me to believe that if he's on the wait list, he probably won't hear until after May 1, the date by when offers have to be accepted or rejected.

No, no letter today.
I guess when he said "...you will be hearing from us shortly.", he refers to that as being a couple of days...

So from what USNA1985 said,
the numbers are fairly the same with the previous classes, except they are making little less offers this year than last year.

Nothing today=6 more days. Is there mail delivery on Good Friday?

Yes, it does sound like the number of offers and slots is less, although the applicant pool was significantly higher this year.

OK, now I'm more confused.

Daughter emailed her regional contact at USNA this am. Asked where things stood in our area since there has been no news.

His reply was this "The Admissions Board will be able to review your file for consideration for an appointment the middle of May."

So she been wait listed and just doesn't know it?
