Hello - just curious if statistics are yet out on how many scholarships were offered/ accepted per branch of ROTC for those starting their ROTC training this summer/ fall? While I"m asking - there are references to 900 kids attending NSI at Great Lakes this summer - 500 now and 400 more in session II, but in the pictures from session I, simply, it looks smaller to me. Does anyone know how many students attended Navy's NSI session I that is now underway and how many overall will attend? Thanks!

900 sounds like it could be correct. If there are approximately 64 NROTC units and 900 entering MIDS, that would average about 14 freshman MIDS per unit. All will not achieve Advanced Standing and commission. So, 900 sounds like a very reasonable number. I watched some of the NSI Great Lakes videos for this summer. They do not show the entire group at one time. I would have no reason to doubt the 400 and 500 numbers that you are seeing. You can try e-mailing the Navy to ask them about the numbers: pnsc_nrotc.scholarship@navy.mil. They must have either the exact numbers or a ballpark and I don't know why they wouldn't be able to share that info.

I recall a previous post mentioning that SMC Scholarship cadets would not be asked to attend considering it would be redundant training for them. Considering there are five SMCs with considerable number of NROTC scholarships, this could reduce attendance #s.
