Are the majority of slots already filled up for the class of 2023?

I fully intend on reapplying if I don't get in this time around because it's been my dream to serve my country and attend USNA. I haven't received a TWE yet and I'm just wondering if it's ridiculous to think I could be appointed at this point in the process. When do they typically respond if so in April. Thank you so much and God bless America.

I would say at this point there will be more TWEs than BFEs, but it’s not ridiculous to think there are still BFEs. Look at last year’s appointment thread and you will see some April appointments. Technically there are still lots of BFEs to go because NAPS and Foundation haven’t gotten their appointments yet. There will also be wait list offers in the next week or two. Very few come off the wait list and USNA always advises those on this list to continue with Plan B.

What is foundation? Also I don't think I'm a recruited athlete so wouldn't I not be eligible for NAPS. I'm quite sure my SAT score/grades fall into the range don't qualify me to go to NAPS. Is NAPs also available for very qualified applicants to wait one year to attend USNA due to a lack of space? Thank you!

You don’t have to be a recruited athlete to go to NAPS. Check out the USNA admissions site for Foundation, it’s another prep option.

The bottom line is there are lots of wonderful candidates and not enough spots. Prep schools are that, provide prep for a candidate who isn’t quite ready. There are lots of great candidates who don’t get in and don’t need prep. It’s simply there isn’t a spot that year. Prep schools serve a purpose for athletes, prior enlisted, rounding out a class with great candidates who might just need an extra year. There are lots of older threads on here about why someone would be a candidate for prep. You are in it until a TWE. There will be some who get a wait list offer and could be waiting until early June. Every year we watch this anxiety. I remember it. We also caution everyone that April 15th is what everyone should prepare themselves for them.

If your intention is to say something ludicrous like: "We don't know how many slots admissions has available at this time. Only they know!" don't bother responding to the thread. That kind of comment is counter-productive and skirts the point of the initial question.

Check the attitude, @qwerty123. You asked a straightforward question, and the response you deride is probably the most accurate answer. (Though an educated guess would probably be in the affirmative.)

As depicted in a certain movie that involved Navy and Marine personnel in a courtroom setting, one shouldn’t ask a question if they can’t handle the truth. That said, I do agree with you: God bless America.

Just speaking from my situation in Michigan. Waiting patiently!
