Are their any breaks during the weekend during CBT?

They normally will have the opportunity to attend a religious service on the weekend if they chose. Not necessarily on Sunday, and it depends on what they have going on.
Also, they traditionally march out to Trophy Point for the 4th of July concert, weather permitting.

The only other slowing down is for the ice cream social, which typically occurs at the mid-way point - between Beast I and Beast II - referred to as the Ice Cream Social. New Cadets get a chance to meet sponsors who typically host them for this event. Typically this occurs on a weekend.

This also typically when you might hear from DD or DS. The sponsor often lets them pass around a cell phone or two to make calls.

The phone call during the ice cream social (in most cases) will be much longer than any prior phone calls. Your NC may not be “relaxed” but they will be in a comfortable and chill sponsors house for some brief downtime. Use that phone call to listen and give back all of your love and support. It is much needed
Sleep often occurs there as well……

Wait until the new parents drive out the gate with their Cadet on A day!!! The light switch goes off and ......zzzzzzzzzzz........communication has been cut off!!! My DD is a Firstie and that still usually happens!

Thank you, yes people keep telling me now to plan ANYTHING for A-DAY except picking him up and letting him sleep!

Couple hours for religious services ("Chaplain's Time") happens every week. If you abstain from going, whether you are not religious etc, then you have that time off and can relax in your room.

What do those that don’t go to service do? If one is not religious, is he still allowed to go?

My close friend from USAFA got his phone back for the ice cream social/sponsor family day thing. Then had to return it again.

YES! Tell your cadet to go to the group with the BEST FOOD. The Atheist Agnostic group has crummy food...my Deist went with the Catholic group for the food and of course the Baby went with the Catholic group because..it is actually what we believe. To be fair, the LDS group has the very best food (reportedly)--but you really need to be LDS to attend.

Also, the Ice Cream Social is a break for the kids--expect phone calls and Skype calls or Facetime...

DD was involved with BCM, it really helped. Gave her some sort of outlet.

I think that what Wed night group has the best food varies with the year and who oversees the food. When my son was at Beast, the Protestant chapel had tons of homebaked goodies (Thanks to the Cookie Mom who personally the baking of a wide variety of baked goods). I got to chat with a cadet who attended the Atheist Agnostic group and he raved about the pizza.

So cadets are required to go to a group service though? Like if they decided not to go, do they just chill in their rooms or do they go to the atheist group?
