Are these sports good?

Hello,

I will be a Junior in the next school year and I only found out about West Point about 5 months ago. Since then I've been researching on how to get into West Point. I realized that being athletic is an important part of the application process.

Since 9th grade I've been playing Ultimate Frisbee in a league called Bay Area Disc Association. It is a competitive league with over 15 teams in the league. I also have been doing Kendo, a Japanese martial art, since 6 years old. I am currently 1 Kyu and won multiple trophies and won at nationals.

I am also a fast runner with a 5:10 mile, but never participated in cross country. But after finding out about West Point, I will be participating in cross country next year and my senior year. At the same time, I did think about participating in track and field for the 1 mile event.

Which sport will be more beneficial while writing my application? Track and field or cross country.

And will these 3 sports be enough to make my phyiscal part of my application look decent?

Thank you!

You seem like a pretty fit person. Track and XC should be two different seasons- unless you have scheduling conflicts, I don't see why you couldn't do both. In terms of weight in the application, either one looks good. Maybe try aiming for a leadership position your senior year.

Also, the physical portion of the application is the CFA (Candidate Fitness Assessment). I would recommend doing some research on that and begin training if you lack in upper body strength.
