are USMMA uniforms similar to USNA uniforms?

No. KP mids wear khaki all four years with whites, chokers, and sdbs depending on the season. The KP uniform is most similar to the actual navy uniforms.
No "CPO's" during fall/winter?

Thats disappointing that we don't get NWUs. I believe SUNY Maritime has them; I wonder why we don't.

My son had NWU's for his junior year while on a carrier and Army airborne school.

Because you are attending the US Merchant Marine Academy and not the US Naval Academy
Thanks for pointing that out, I'm so silly sometimes I forget where I go to school! I guess we shouldn't wear khakis or whites either because those are navy uniforms?? Anyways, I have seen SUNY Maritime wear NWU's and I think it would be really neat if we had them.

There is a difference between a "Naval style" uniform and an official Navy uniform. The NWU is an official navy uniform. I will lay money that SUNY does not wear NWUs, they simply match black trousers with khaki shirts.

My bad, I meant it would be nice to have that style then. What I was thinking was official must just be that style.

I believe the difference would be that SUNY Maritime has an NROTC unit. NROTC midshipmen wear Navy uniforms with NROTC insignia. I don't know much about SUNY Maritime, but if students there are wearing Navy uniforms, they would have to be NROTC midshipmen.
