Just curious if anyone commissioning summer 2019 has gotten their Army BOLC report dates and bases yet, and/or if you've heard any data on when they plan to drop . . . should be soon.

From reddit it appears some AROTC detachments are being informed via emails from their Detachment HRA what their BOLC dates are. (started yesterday 7 Mar 2019.) No one reporting "orders" yet . . . looks like the info is starting to seep out . . . ;-)

DS just received his Armor BOLC date: 15, JAN 2020.

He's gonna have some time on his hands. He plans to work for the year at the restaurant and the Ski Resort as snow is supposed to be there through July.

Let him enjoy the snow while he can, because he ain't gonna see any in Columbus GA, except in snow cones.

Hey everyone! I'm anxious for an answer to this question as well... My recruiter told me that i'd tentatively leave for BOLC in sept or october. So idk if he has information that no one has or what? :O going crazy! MEPS on april 1st for me

Which BOLC Branch?

Since you mentioned “recruiter” and MEPS I assume you aren’t doing AROTC or SA?

that's a long wait from graduation! How does it work during the wait for BOLC? does the new officer still get fully paid and service time accrue for the wait for BOLC (does this count towards the 5 year service obligation while they await BOLC?) or does the 5 year clock start during BOLC? just wondering as I have no idea how the process works.

For an active duty officer, the "meter" doesn't start running until BOLC, both on pay and service obligation. Thus we will keep our DS on our health plan until he begins BOLC (unless he accepts a cadre position as described below).

However, here are some exceptions to get the clock running before BOLC begins
  • Receive an assignment as a Gold Bar Recruiter - Work at your battalion or a local Army recruiter focusing on ROTC.
  • Become cadre at your college (or another one nearby) - Essentially assist cadre in a variety of tasks
  • Become cadre at Cadet Summer Training (Basic Camp or Advanced Camp).
For my DS, another cadet who is also Armor but for National Guard received an October 2019 ABOLC date and offered to trade with DS. My DS declined as he prefers to stay close to home while his non-military GF begins her senior year of college. He most likely will work his restaurant job until January as a food server unless they offer him cadre at his college.

1st choice is Carson....2nd choice is Lewis-McChord.

I think I see a pattern. Good on him.

If he gets Carson let us know and I'll send you the link to Epic Pass. I'm sure there is a similar type pass for the Cascades.

bellbabe -- I think you MS guys/gals are a special case -- thank you for your willingness to serve. I'm inferring you didn't do AROTC so I'm asssuming you will do MS BOLC-A to learn about the Army, and then go to MS BOLC-B after that. Most of the other folks here got credit for "BOLC-A" via their SA or ROTC attendance and they are going to their Branch-based "BOLC-B"

Was your DS assigned his first duty station?
Not yet. Any day now. 1st choice is Carson....2nd choice is Lewis-McChord. (He loves his snowboarding).

We shall see.

If he has questions about Carson, let me know. Busy post, but a good time.

Also, he should look into the epic pass, hell of a deal for military since he’s into snowboarding.

It's a long way from Lawton, isn't it?

You were a year ahead of my DS and a great resource. Hope all is well and please share what you can about the "where are they now."
