Not sure if this is the appropriate thread but decided to create one. Been on the SA forum for 5 plus years, have a DS that just commissioned Infantry and recently started IBOLC. Would love to connect with those in a similar situation and share the experience/lessons learned. Thanks!

Nice topic!

My DS just finished ABOLC (also held at Ft. Benning) and is in the middle of SLC or Scout Leader Course, (formerly ARC).

Ft. Benning just changed commanding Generals. MG Brito has moved on to the Pentagon, and now MG Donohoe is in charge.

Thanks AROTC -dad :). Been feeling this "void" on SA (for me) with everything that went into pursuing the officer path with my DS and just wanted to get a thread going that might link we parents/new 2LT's.

Our son just completed the 11-month-long Cyber BOLC last month and starts his new job next week in a developer role with the 915th at Ft. Gordon, GA. He’s very happy to finally be getting on with it. We haven’t seen him since he was home for Christmas. No BOLC graduation. Basically, we’re just guests in his life at this point. He’s fully launched, and we’ve moved on.

Best wishes for your son. Here's hoping Covid-19 is beaten soon. For the time being large graduation events at Benning are cancelled for visitors. For you, this would include the IBOLC cording ceremony and, after considerable agonies, Ranger School Graduation, not to mention (Ranger School) Darby Pass, and, possibly, Airborne School graduation. All of these were and will again be terrific events.

Thanks EDelahanty - Right, heard the same from all those in and around Ft. Benning. Boy have COVID changed everything....we'll see if things get better and maybe have a glimmer of hope to attend any graduation "event"...but remain doubtful. Thank you for the well wishes and I suspect like many...as soon as my DS completes this phase of training, well, we will hear a bit less from him. Always nice to hear about "life after ROTC/SMC/Academy/OCS" from other parents. Cheers!
