Anyone planning to attend the football game this year? Where is everyone staying? Any other tips or insights to the game, we will be driving out there from the Midwest to attend and see our Plebe!

We have a reservation at Springhill suites but have been eyeballing Air B and B. Haven't made a decision yet.

Arrive Friday morning for the challenges and exciting environment. We loved our experience last year. We took my son and his bestie to the game. He is headed to USMA and she is headed to USNA. It will be incredible this year to see them on the field during pregame.

We are looking forward to it for sure! Just found out we need to join the A club to guarantee tickets though!

Now things certainly could have changed from previous years but as a parent of a cadet....at least for the past 3 years...you could get up to 8 seats and donating to the a club could get you a little better seats...but again, things change.

I was told today by the ticket office, up to 12 tickets per family. Must donate to A club minimum $750 to guarantee tickets. All others will be issued based on donation level until tickets are gone. They said usually there are plenty of opportunities at RDay for new families to purchase, but this year there will be a waiting list unless you donate $750 plus to A club!

Hmmmm...guess thats what happens when Army wins....much more demand for tickets! Oh well....it's worth it!

We ended up booking a hotel on the NJ side of the bridge. It was about half the price as those downtown and seems to be easy access to both downtown and the stadium. And the hotel rates a bit better than those I saw downtown.

Last years game in Baltimore was incredible. We were able to spend time with our son, and plan to do the same this year.

The deadline to get tickets without a donation has passed. Tickets are always available last minute on the parent fb pages.

When I called about a month ago, the ticket office said not to worry and that tickets would be available at R Day for the incoming class because since they are not yet cadets, we couldn't purchase prior to R Day. This has since changed to what I was told today.
We can purchase now based on my prior post....
Other classes can purchase as early as February
Have to check FB maybe

How many do you need? It was an amazing game last year and seeing the same 2 kids on the field this year and in uniform will be just awesome. We sold our Ohio State/Michigan tickets and it was just something we wanted to do with our son. His bestie was a bonus.

I've had similar information and was waiting for R-day to purchase, so the recent requirement to donate $750 is a bit disappointing. Still hoping that this is incorrect information and we will be able to purchase on R day or our cadets will be allowed.

Well, I can assure you that is what I was told today directly from WP ticket office. We will be able to put our ticket request in at R Day, but as stated there is no guarantee of availability.
As always everything is subject to change, but
Disappointing for sure...

Shock-n-awe has it it right. I called this week too. Plebe's have no ticket allocation this year for Army/Navy game and only with a $750 donation could I purchase tickets, which would be assigned based on my level of giving. It's for real.

So back to my original post, where are you staying if you're going this year?
What tips do people have for attending this game for first timers?

Yes! Staying downtown/Sonesta this year (stayed near the stadium/Navy Yard 2 yrs ago). (Rented a car 2 yrs ago; a little nerve wracking driving downtown, and then finding parking. Planning to do the subway, etc this year.) I'm hoping the Boxing event will take place Friday night. Apparently it didn't in Baltimore last year, but it was pretty exciting to watch 2 yrs ago. Also, the Pipes & Drums have a competition Friday night at the convention center. Lots of Army/Navy competitions to watch during the day Friday, but plan to walk around downtown if you can -- Reading Terminal Market has some amazing food options; the Liberty Bell/Independence Hall, etc.

If there is an Army-Navy Boxing Smoker, that's a lot of fun. Pep rally. Patriot Games, or whatever it might be called this year - which have included cadet-mid races up the "Rocky Steps."

And, take the train from Centre City to the Stadium. Lots of fun to be packed on there with fans from both sides before and after the game. Skips the whole parking hassle and expense.

If you haven't been to a game in an NFL stadium, there are strict regulations about what you can bring in. Very small wristlets or clear totebags, both with specific dimensions. No handbags, backpacks, etc. Pockets are good!
Google "NFL bag policy."

Ensure you know how much liberty your plebe, Army or Navy, has after the game. Though often it is "same as last year," there is no guarantee. This won't be known, most likely, till the ac year. They are in a duty status at the game and expected to sit (mostly stand, for hours) with the Corps or Brigade. Yes, magically, they may happen to run into mom or dad while on a cheesesteak run.

Plan your cold weather layers and strategy in advance. The weather can be a straightforward early winter day, or full-on Philly miserable drizzly, rainy, raw, toe-freezing cold.

Around late October, be on the lookout for Army-Navy spirit videos produced by cadets and mids, which are entertaining and highly creative. In the meantime, have fun searching YouTube for previous year videos.

Search for Army-Navy threads in USMA, USNA and other forums here on SAF.

Plenty of time to get smart on this - best of luck to plebes of both flavors for impending report dates...
