Army-Navy Game Questions

I have a couple of questions about the Army-Navy game…

(1) We recently received a football ticket request order form from the Army "A Club." The form is due June 15. I have also heard that tickets to the Army-Navy game can be purchased on R-Day (my DS reports for Beast next month). Is there any difference between ordering tickets through the A Club by mail vs. purchasing them on R-Day? Or, on R-Day, will I just receive essentially the same order form that I have now? Any tips are appreciated.

(2) I've heard conflicting information regarding a Plebe's ability to spend the night with family during the Army-Navy game weekend. I've seen at least one post on this forum suggesting that Cadets can spend Friday and Saturday night with family (with various scheduling restrictions, of course). On the other hand, Deb Dalton recently told me that overnight visitation is possible, but that "more than likely" my DS would have to come down to Philly Saturday morning and leave Saturday evening (on the "boomerang"?), depending on his ability to obtain a pass. We live close enough to Philly to be able to drive up and back in one day; however, if my DS can spend some time with us before and after the game, then we'll want to get a hotel room. If anyone can share their experiences with this situation it would be greatly appreciated (remember, it is for a Plebe).

Thanks!!

1) It will be the same form on R-Day. The one choice you will have is that if you make a donation at a certain level to the A-Club you will have access to better tickets. This all can be handled on R-Day.

2) It is as Deb says, but at least in previous years it was not difficult for plebes to get passes. (As long as they weren't on academic or discipline restriction) Also, one difference this year from the past three is that finals do not immediately follow the week after the game. This can only improve the chance of getting a pass.

Thanks, NJDAD, for your insight. Just for clarification...are you suggesting that it is more than likely that my DS WILL be able to get a pass (as long as he is not on restriction), or that it is more than likely that my DS WILL NOT be able to get a pass (as Deb seem to indicate)? Sounds like you are suggesting the former (but you also said that it is "as Deb says"). Thanks!

A current cadet can better answer this.

Old days, each class had guaranteed number of passes per semester, unless you are under some sort of retriction. When I was a plebe, I think I had one guaranteed pass per semester, so I used mine fall pass on the Army-Navy.
