Hi all - curious where folks think the best part of town is to stay for Army Navy weekend and why? TIA for your thoughts.

Last time I went to Philly, I stayed next to the stadium.

If you are going to spend time in Philly other than the game - I would stay in center city.

Since this is posted in the USNA forum, my answer is: Naptown.

Hear me out: Unless you have plans to tour Philly (which is certainly worthwhile), a day trip can be the most efficient and economical route.

DD’s plebe year, we departed Naptown at 6am. Passed the mid bus caravan at one point. Arrived at 8am. Had breakfast at Reading Terminal. Booped around City Center a bit before heading to the stadium. Need to get there early for the march-on.

After the game, found DD, fought through the massive exodus and swung by South Philly for a cheesesteak (“Wid or widout?!?!”). Headed back to Naptown and checked into hotel about midnight. DD got a good night’s sleep and we were able to grab breakfast in DTA before dropping her off at the Yard.

Thanks! This is a great recommendation. We are considering a hybrid. We are in a unique situation. DD is done with academics for the semester, so we have a little more freedom to spend time with her and explore.

For the convivence and experience Center City / Rittenhouse / Old City All are a short walk to subway to stadium. Leave car at hotel as stadium parking is $45 I believe. If in town Friday, there is a noon pep rally @ Liberty Place and events at the convention center. Eat Lunch at Reading terminal. Great restaurants around Walnut St and by Rittenhouse Square. City decorated for Christmas, Ice rink at city hall, go to Macy's in the historic Wannamaker building and catch the famous light show. The Comcast tower has a pretty cool Christmas show as well.
Sadly Jim's Steaks (IMO one of the better shops in town) had a fire and is closed.

I'm a Philly guy. City has lot to offer around the holidays.

The MOST convenient and fun would likely be someplace near Broad Street, either Center City or Old City near the Historic District. Mostly I would say it depends on your plans other than the game. If you want to see the city, you don't need to be on or near Broad street, just find a nice place anywhere other than North Philly and have a car to see the different sites. Rittenhouse Square, the Reading Terminal, The Liberty Bell, all have nice places to stay nearby, but you will pay a lot more in the city than say South Jersey or south of the Airport. If you want to do the whole game thing and have dinner then leave Sunday morning I would recommend something near Broad Street. You can park at your hotel, and take the Boad Street Subway directly to the stadium, hang out with the tailgaters, see the game then hop the subway back to your hotel. No traffic, parking woes, or getting stuck in the lots.

It is probably too late to get either a good price or a good location this late. People reserve rooms near the stadium and subway WAY early. Nice places in South Jersey, drive to the nearest High Speed Line station, park, take the speedline to the Broad Street Subway transfer and right to the stadium. Collingswood, Haddonfield, or Evesham are all close to the speedline stations. Free parking, hassle free transit, and you don't deal with parking or traffic.

.
… this takes care of everything …
