Army ROTC 3rd Scholarship Board Results

Mohawk....inquiring minds want to know if the ROOs are notified of winners to their programs prior to the portal update?

Yes, the results were released to us this past weekend, however the results are currently being reviewed to ensure there are not any mistakes/issues. We can not contact winners until the results have been approved, and the award letters have been mailed out later this week.

That's the word we heard from DS's school of choice ROO... that we would know by the end of the week. It's accepted students weekend at the school and we will be there... hopefully with the knowledge that a scholarship had been offered... but either way... knowing one way or another this week lets us know what discussion we need to be having with the financial aid folks! Good luck to us all!

If the student does not receive a scholarship offer but attends the college ROTC program what is the next step, apply again next year?

S/he would apply for a campus based scholarship. This is a different "pool" of applicants than the national scholarship. They will be guided through the process by the cadre of the unit.

My DS entered Army ROTC as a non-contract "walk-on" cadet at a local university two years ago after being declined by USNA and NROTC/Marine Option. (He had never even applied for AROTC scholarships in High School).

In the fall of his freshman/MS-I year he was able to earn a 3 year "advanced designee" scholarship later extended another half year. This scholarship was issued by the cadre of his battalion and is based on projected academic grades, APFT scores and involvement in EC's, PLUS the SAT/ACT scores etc. Bottom line another Whole Person Score.

Each battalion's budget for these "campus based" scholarships may vary, but I beliee that there are more of these available through the Army than the other branches.

InSanemom is right, the next scholarship opportunity is through the Battalion as a campus based scholarship. There is no other opportunity to apply for the National AROTC Scholarship if they do not receive one through the original process. The campus based scholarship will be based on how the cadet does academically in school (GPA), in ROTC including APFT, and whether the battalion has any scholarships to offer. Some cadets have received a 4 year at the start of freshman year, (That's rare), some receive a 3.5 year at the start of the second semester, and there are some that receive 3 or 2 year scholarship, it all depends on what the battalion has to offer. Some battalions may not have any available one year while other will, it all depends on the battalion and the year.

Edit: I think we all posted at once.

Last year 3rd board my daughter saw that her portal had changed, by the time we jumped on the board had already started blowing up with announcements. T is definitely a "switch" that updates the system. Good luck to all of those waiting!

They are announcing...my DS just awarded 3 Year AD to Southeastern University in Florida. He is also signed to play Football there as well.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Was it on the portal or did he hear from the school?

Congrats to you! Yea!!!

Ours still says "boarded." If a scholarship is not offered, will it change to something else the same time the portal is updated since it's the last board?
