Hello everybody, I applied for the 4 year scholarship and my status is currently "board ready". I was wondering how long it takes to hear back from ROTC about their decision on my application?

Two to three weeks, could be a little longer. It seems to vary each year and board.

How do they normally respond? Will I be receiving a phone call or a letter or will my status simply be updated to winner?

When my son received his the only thing that happened was his portal changed to winner but I believe that some have received calls from the ROO at their top school.

We kept checking the portal and saw that it changed. However, we did get the official letter in the mail about a week later.

I just got boarded and my last initial is "H". Will I be notified if I don't win a scholarship from this board?

As explained to my DD, if not a winner this round then it remains on a list and will be considered at later boards. Status on application will remain boarded.

So I will still have a chance at winning a scholarship at the 2 other boards then, correct?

Yes, everyone when boarded is put on a list in order of merit and then they pull off this list to award scholarships. DD's ROO said the plus to getting application in early for first board is that there are less on this "order of merit" list and therefore if strong you have a very good chance at a scholarship because there are less applications in. During second or third board applicants applying later may be placed above you on that list based on their qualifications. Like I said, this is all from DD who asked the question during her interview. Hope it helps!

chances are relative. the fewest scholarships are awarded on the first board (last year +/-300)

You might check again today because DS says 'Boarded' and last name starts with H. Best of luck to all this go around!

I just received an offer for the early commissioning program for ROTC... any thoughts about the program and the military jr colleges ??

AH99 - I am interested in this too. I received an offer for ECP and includes 4 year scholarship (2 at military junior college followed by 2 years at any school with ROTC program). Do any on the forum have insight?

Many thanks!

Next week Cadet Command will make 100 national ECP offers off the first scholarship board. If you receive an ECP offer it is the ONLY offer you will receive from the national board. You will not be considered for another national scholarship during the last two boards. If you receive a national ECP offer you may select one of five Military Junior Colleges to attend.

I just read this from a facebook page. I did not know Cadet Command made national ECP Scholarship offers. DS had an ECP scholarship but it came from the school.

As a note, if you are wanting active duty, even though the possibility is there, and some cadets may do it, it is unlikely to achieve it through ECP.

DS commissioned 1 1/2 yrs ago. I think 2 cadets from the class ahead of him made active duty. Out of his class I think 3 or 5 had their GRFD numbers revoked to be eligible to try for AD, only 1 received it and he was a language major with a 3.8 gpa and his follow up school was Norwich. The class behind DS had ZERO cadets get their GFD numbers revoked (so he was told).

I think Clarkson on here even said that GRFD numbers being revoked were next to impossible.
It used to be your number was revoked at your follow up school, today you apply to have your control number revoked in October of your sophomore year, if it is not done then it will not be done.

That being said, the program changes quickly based upon the needs of the Army, so you may start under one scenario and by the time you graduate things may change.
