Army ROTC 4 Year Scholarship

Wow! I heard the Army is trying to build up the Reserve Components. There are articles in Army Times monthly talking about staffing and training the USAR/Guard for more frequent deployments. Although this young blood is needed, it seems kind of sneaky...Getting this out in the open will save many applicant families with different goals a lot of heartache!

I also reiecved the ECP scholarship, and emailed them back right away to clarify if I can decline and be considered for the next 2 boards.

If that isn't the case.... then what a waste of time. Not that I have no interest in an MJC, but I'm more suited for the traditional 4 year college experience.
My question is, was it just a letter or did everyone's portal change? If it still says boarded I would think you are still on the list. Clarification should be sought from Cadet Command, don't rely on a different source.

Based off what @Georgia1998 said, I do wonder if Cadet Command is alluding to no scholarship offer in the next 2 boards. Is it possible they are suggesting this is our only offer?
No, I do not believe that, I think they are giving there is no "crystal ball" as to who else will apply, where the applicant will end up on the list, etc. In other words they don't know if you will or you won't. As much as it isn't a premonition of no offer, it is also not a stamp of confidence that there will be another offer either. I think if the ECP is not what a student wants they should not settle. Going to a four year college and competing for a campus based scholarship is always an option. However, there are a lot of opportunities left this year, this is not done! I have said it many times, but I understand how hard it is to wait, my daughter was given an offer 3rd board, she was up and down between hope and despair for months. She had plan B firmly in place, including deposit paid and roommate at her safety school both academically and financially. And then April 4th it all changed when she got the scholarship and the same week got into her stretch school. It all worked out, she got to go to her academic and financial stretch school. Keep the faith!

I think the MJC's and CC are hijacking ROTC scholarship applicants to meet this 'mission set'. This is especially true for applicants that did not indicate an interest in the ECP or an ECP MJC.

CC Regulation 145-1
Chapter 10
10-6. Ike Skelton Early Commissioning Program.
(2) USACC is required by law to contract a minimum of 22 Cadets per mission set, into the USAR or ARNG at each MJC by using scholarship types which support the USAR or ARNG.

My DS received an Ike Skelton offer as well - and I agree with those who have said this is an unfair decision to put on a 17 year old high school senior. Particularly with the lack of information that accompanies the offer.

JCleppe or QA1517 - What are the dates of the posts on Wentworth's facebook page?

November 9th

Reading it again, it really is misleading, stating that it will be the only offer given when Cadet Command says different.

It's one thing to recruit, another thing altogether to mislead.

My DS received an email from Wentworth asking him to apply and compete for an ECP scholarship. He did not select ECP in his AROTC scholarship application. They never state he was being offered an ECP scholarship in the email. The email fine print states you received this email because you have expressed interest in Army ROTC. This email sounds different from Georgia's email to me.

So I just read that FB post on the Wentworth ROTC page. I have to say that something doesn't pass the "Sniff Test". It seems really odd that Cadet Command would make an offer for an ECP program if the applicant did not express an interest in the program from these schools. To simply send out random offers that would now prevent them from continuing in the National ROTC Scholarship boards seems off to me. Like you stated they have never done this before and these scholarships were only offered from the ECP programs themselves.

The other post on their page really seemed a bit disturbing, they gave the average states for GPA and SAT/ACT for the first board, they then stated that if you were not in this range you should look at a GRFD, Minuteman, and ECP Scholarships. That is highly misleading and could sway some applicants that have a strong application into jumping into something they do not need to do yet. The whole thing looks a little misleading to me, I understand they are trying to recruit but this seems to go a bit far.

To the person that received the ECP offer, I would highly recommend that you contact a ROO at a school you listed on your application and ask them to confirm what Wentworth is saying in their post before you make any decision.

Major Killeen at UNG is very helpful!!
