Can I do the one mile run on a tread mill? Because its snowing hard outside. Also do the results simply have to be post marked by the deadline?

If you have a coach or PE teacher that can monitor your run and there is a readout of time and distance I don't see why it wouldn't work. The PFT is just an example of your overall fitness.

By the way, your cutting it pretty close to the deadline, in fact isn't today the deadline.

I would scan the results and email them, send them fed ex, mail them, and fax them all today. Don't just do one of the above, do them all. Remember time zones as well, make sure you email and fax before the close of business Ft. Knox Time.

With how busy they are, your taking the risk your information, even if it arrives on time, may not make it into the system.

Make sure you follow up with CC as well as the ROO at one of the schools you listed, they will be able to tell you if everything was received ok and you are board ready.

Good Luck

OP - last year the deadline was 28 Feb. Is this year 29 Feb?

I wouldn't postmark anything... I'd get a copy, and scan+email, fax and call Cadet Command with the results.. If you mail it, it might not get to Ft. Knox in time to put into your file for the next Board. After all that, I'd mail the original.

Would it be possible to do aerobic testing on something other than running? Would a bicycle test work?

There are alternate events to running in the APFT, but I don't believe they are available for this test. Also, you don't get to just choose alternate events.

After looking a little bit into the OP's posting history, his question is actually pertaining to the Presidential Physical Fitness Test (the one you take in HS) that was needed to be submitted with his AROTC scholarship application, as opposed to the APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test) which is taken by ROTC Cadets and Army personnel.

For this particular test (Presidential Physical Fitness Test), there never has been anything to replace the 1-mile run, which it appears that he put off until the last minute. Considering the OP was asking about things ROTC scholarship last June, this does not speak well of the ability to carry out the requirements of the application.

Time to put this thread to rest.

I agree, I wonder if he got things done in time, I highly doubt it.

I was answering a different poster on this thread, I gave up on the other one.

Real mature sir.

I'm sorry, but if you have a problem with the attitude of my or any other member's post click the little red-outlined white triangle with an exclaimation point in it (right next to the post number) and make your complaints known to the moderators.

If the moderators think the post is out of line with SAF's rules, appropriate discipline will be meted out.

Have a nice evening.

you too.

bjb2016 -- I assume you are the son, and not the parent, posting above. I suspect you both use the same moniker. If I've got it reversed, pls. let me know.

If you are the son, you have earned a 4 yr. ROTC scholarship per a post from your parent in 10/27. Given that, now is a good time to learn about pecking order, chain of command, and respect earned by those older than you -- even on an internet bulletin board. There is a way that is OK to speak to peers that is not OK with adults.

OK, there, that's all I have to say.

My daughter has been reprimanded for using my account and my password has been changed. However, It is disheartening to see a bunch of adults ganging up on a teenager for her posts.

daughter?

oK, so not your son, not you. Never mind then. How were we to know?

Did you read her posts.

No one was ganging up on her, her posts were inappropriate and she was called out for it. If that was perceived as ganging up, wait until she starts ROTC, the cadre will be their friends on facebook, they will get cc'd on emails, if she has this same attitude then it will not go well for her and they won't be this nice.

I apologize if any adults came off that way it is not any of our intention to do so, Nobody here knew if this was a teenager or an adult, it was just a guess. When a response was given the posts just got worse.

There are a lot of ex and current military folks on here, we tend to have a low threshold for kids with attitudes, as will ROTC, it will be harder there.

I hope you continue to post and ask questions on this forum, there is a lot that can be learned and shared here.

EDIT: OK , I was confused, I see it is your son who has received the scholarship not your daughter who was apparently posting, I apologize for the mix up. Congratulations to your son, if he has any more questions make sure he knows he is very welcome to ask them here, we will all help wherever we can.

that happens more than you would think, usually by the applicant child and the parent both having the same UserID and password... it get's confusing sometimes when it is clear the person is either schizophrenic, or it is really two people.
