Hi! I have a question regarding the PMS interview. I started the application process late so I didn't get the interviewee status until now (although now that I look at the emails sent to me by various schools, I probably could've interviewed before I received that status). Anyways, after reading around I'm kind of confused with the information I've seen. I've read that the interview needs to be done before the deadline for documents (October 7), which is 1 week from now. This is an issue because next week also happens to be finals week although, I'm more worried about scheduling an interview in this short of a time span. However, when I look at one of the documents IU Bloomington sent me that shows all teh dealines, it says, right below "1st High School Selection Board Deadline for Documents", " "1st High School Board-Ready List PMS Deadline" with a due date of October 21, 2016. Is this the actual deadline to have an interview by? Or is does it mean something else? I'm aware that there is a 2nd and 3rd Board but I'd prefer to have the process done as soon as possible. Thanks taking the time to read and answer, I highly appreciate it, if you wouldn't mind giving me a "Chance Me" while you're here, I'd appreciate that too and will list my stats below as well as the schools where I'll be applying (I am in California).

I'll be applying to the following schools:
  1. Cornell University
  2. Indiana University Bloomington
  3. University of Texas at Austin
  4. Ohio State University
  5. UC Davis
  6. UC Irvine
Judging from My ACT Scores (I only took it once, I thought it was high enough so never bothered to retake), I think they're all fairly reasonable as my score puts me in the top 25% while at Cornell it'd be average/below average (although I know they look at more than ACT scores). Anyways, my stats:
  • GPA- Weighted: 4.25, Unweighted: 3.75
  • Class Rank: 29/567
  • Varisty Cross country for 11th Grade (JV Previous years), Varsity in Track 10th and 11th Grade (JV previous years)
  • ACT: 31, 30- English, 29- Math, Reading- 34, Science- 30
  • New SAT (same with ACT, only took it once and have not taken the old one): 1410, Math- 750, Reading- 660
  • Took AP chem, AP calc bc, AP bio, AP US History, AP Psych, AP World. Scores were 4, 3, 3, 4, 5, 4 respectively. I also got As in all of them except Calc BC where I got C first quarter, B 2nd quarter and an A 3rd quarter. Taking AP Macro/Micro, AP Physics and AP Calc AB this year
I think I'm fine academic wise, but I have no ECs which might be an issue...

I don't know if they changed something with the site, but I can't find the option to edit but when I said, "my score puts me in the top 25% while at Cornell", I meant that "...my score puts me at the top 25% of the listed schools except at Cornell..."

I believe the Oct 21 deadline references the PMS' obligation to submit docs. I'd go ahead and try to schedule an interview in the coming week. Get on the horn today! Hopefully you've visited one of those schools and have a relationship built with someone by now.

This is what the scholarship website says...

-----------------
To appear before a Selection Board to be considered for a scholarship, applicants must submit a completed application, including the PMS Interview by 1159 EST on one of the below “Document Submission Deadlines”.

Document Submission Deadlines:

1st High School Board – 7 October 2016

2nd High School Board – 6 January 2017

3rd High School Board – 28 February 2017
--------------------

To me, that means you must have your interview done by next Friday. *If* the PMS has extra days to get docs in, that's on him/her. But I believe you have to have the interview done before the deadline.

My son called his closest school YESTERDAY and scheduled his interview for Monday! Call now and see what you can get. Explain that you decided late to apply which is why you are running up against the deadline and that you apologize for it being so close to the deadline. This is what my son did (although his reasoning was that there were document issues due to him being homeschooled) and it was received well by the interviewer.

Your stats seem very good to me. Not having ECs is a concern, but not enough to warrant not applying at all! Good luck!

One note for the OP: be sure you have a completed PFA on file/submitted through the application, and bring a copy to your interview. Many PMSs seem to require the PFA results before they submit their results on to CC.

Based on something our PMS said during the interview, there must be some comment on the interview form about whether it is likely the cadet can complete the APFT to contract.
