3 years varsity tennis, JV football and baseball
4 years JROTC - this year as a c/Captain
Boys State
Job 12th grade
PFA: 7:40 mile 40 push ups 45 sit-ups

does it mean anything if my number one school emailed me this last week about ROTC?

No...the schools have access to your information and they are "recruiting" so you keep them in mind if and when you get a scholarship. Don't be surprised if you get contacted by schools that aren't even on your list. That happened to my daughter with the University of Portland, a school we had never even heard of but that's where she ended up. Life is full of curve balls.

To make everyone feel better, my stats are:
1210 SAT
3.2 GPA unweighted
Eagle Scout, NHS, 3 sport varsity athlete, class officer, club VP, volunteer weekly, Boys State Attendee, and all honors/ AP classes with a few advanced
My PFA was:
5:50 mile
59 Push ups
48 Sit-up

I think my SAT and GPA completely knocked me out of a fighting chance

You never know and in any case, you can still go to the school of your choice and enroll in ROTC classes. Work hard, show up early and ready to go, blow the PFT out of the water and get good grades and as he may end up with a scholarship after all. The amount of money available for "extra" scholarships changes every year but last year (Summer of 2016), my son was the Gold Bar Recruiter at his college and they gave out 3 year scholarships to every Cadet that had been in the program all year met the necessary requirements.

Are you notified if you do not receive a scholarship or does your status just stay boarded?
Thanks

My son stayed with a 'Boarded' status for months.... After boarding, the candidate receives a number which puts them on the OML (order of merit list). Since the number and quality of candidates changes from year to year, the selection committee can't be sure how far down the list they will go until the last board.

OK thank you. I figured it was just a waiting game!

My sons page still says Boarded at the top, but there is now a red square around Winner! My son said the red square used to be around the Boarded description. Mean anything??

I just checked and my DS is the same! Boarded at the top but red around "winner" at the bottom... anyone else? any thoughts on this?

That didn't exist when my kids went thru but it sounds like a good sign!!

My daughter also has a Red Box around Winner of AROTC scholarship! The Army interviewer also called her to tell her she received a scholarship. What is the process for knowing if the scholarship is to her top 3 schools assuming she gets admitted to them as opposed to other schools on her list of 7 schools?

I have also received the red box around winner, but it is still highlighted “Boarded” at the top.

If this is the 1st board, *historically speaking* you're odds are pretty good of getting a 4 year scholarship to your top schools.

My son also shows Boarded with a red box around Winner. His Interviewer emailed him and told him to check his status. Crossing our fingers this is a good sign.

I have the red box around the "Winner" as well. I haven't received any emails from any schools though.

What top 3 schools did everyone apply too?
My sons are
VMI
The Citadel
Texas A & M

My sons are:
Buena Vista University (Storm Lake, IA)
Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, IL)
Cedarville University (Cedarville, OH)

His scores
26 ACT
2.9 GPA
4 Varsity Letters (between Cross Country and Golf)
Level II Certified Instructor American Taekwondo Assc
3x National Top Ten, 3x Regional Champion, 6x State Champion ATA
Job 10th and 11th
PFA:
6:08 run
46 Push-up
42 Sit-up

He won't be 1st round. Maybe has a decent shot 2nd round, but I think will be okay in 3rd round.

I would not count on the red box around winner to indicate anything until official notice has been given. My DD has been that way for sometime know -almost immediately after the first board completion I believe. Hopefully everyone will get some good news soon. I did see K2Rider state that multiple ROTC programs reach out even if they were not on your list?? Does this mean it is common or at least a fair possibility for scholarship winners to change their school of choice? Thanks
