Good luck to everyone!!! Don't freak out just yet if the numbers turn out to be low here. They might not be very illuminating for this year's total final percentage of scholarships (although there will definitely be fewer than last year). A low percentage for the January board, for example, could simply mean that Cadet Command was awaiting hard budget numbers to filter down through the ranks once the President's budget was finalized. Although the budget is scheduled for public release on Feb. 13 (delayed by one week), I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers from the March board might be actually higher than the earlier board once CC found out how much money it had available to spend (but it could go the other way, admittedly). DoD has definitely reached key decisions on the budget already and actually held a press conference today (watch CNN tonight).
Just a theory. . . . Keep the faith!!
And definitely keep pushing all Plan B's etc.!!
Jcleppe's point about the goal being becoming an Army officer is a really good one -- that goal is BY FAR the most important credential that will follow you your entire life and ultimately translate into more money and/or opportunities during the span of one's life than any fixed scholarship can ever provide (in terms of management experience, leadership experience, resume booster, etc.) Keep your eyeball on that objective.
